After months of hearing my mom rave about Stoney River’s coffee-cured steak, I was thrilled to finally visit on 12/8/2024 for lunch. My mother’s treat so it was even more exciting. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we had hoped for. I ordered my steak medium well, requesting it to be more on the medium side. When it arrived, the exterior was overdone, and after two bites, it was clear the inside was completely dry. Despite being initially excited, I was disappointed by how overcooked it was. When we brought this to the attention of our server, the manager came over and informed us that to get the steak cooked "correctly," we would have to order it medium. While I understand there are variations in how steaks cook, it would have been helpful if the waitstaff informed us of this potential issue ahead of time. I’ve dined at many other steak restaurants, and they always advise customers about potential issues with cooking temperatures, so this lack of communication was frustrating. After discussing with the manager, we also wanted to order kettle one lemon drop martinis in hopes of salvaging the experience, asking the manager if there is anyway to be certain a good drink will be made, he seemed indifferent, stating, "I'm not sure how much I can help with that one." , and surely the drinks were poorly made. My mother's was noticeably stronger than mine, and the ingredients weren’t evenly mixed. As someone with there TIPS license it was immediately noticeable, As a manager in the food industry myself, I know that there are always ways to accommodate customers, and this response was incredibly disappointing. Overall, we left dissatisfied and didn’t even eat our leftovers at home. My mom’s words summed it up perfectly: "It never fails. You try a place, rave about it, but when you come back, it’s a completely different experience." I hope Stoney River takes this feedback seriously, as the potential for a great dining experience is clearly there, but it was unfortunately missed during our visit.

Sunday, November 10, 2019 will be remembered as a day of enjoyable with family & friends while having an amazing brunch. We made reservations for 11:30 am for five people and ended up with seven in our group. The staff was happy to add to our reservation and we were seated right away without a wait. Immediately, Kimmy greeted us and DJ was our waiter who asked for our drink orders. He suggested a few items off the brunch menu and offered the full menu as well. DJ brought out hot bread and our drinks within a few minutes. The atmosphere was wonderful with low conversation ongoing among several guest who decided to dine early as well. I ordered the Legendary Fillet Oscar Style and my sides were mashed potatoes and asparagus. Before I dined on my main coarse we ordered deviled eggs, whiskey shrimp and Bellini's to start the meals. The cocktail orders were on point and really stiff @ 11:30 am on a Sunday. DJ and Kimmie continued to check on our visit and offered other items off the menu. We were celebrating two birthdays and the staff brought out two slices of chocolate cake to share. Let me share that so many people talk about other restaurants in the steak business. I've traveled the world and had the best in Texas. Stoney River has something special going on here. There's only two in the area between Annapolis and Towson in Maryland. It's worth the trip to either location as the steak are full of meat, taste and appealing to anyone who knows steaks. I would place Stoney River in the top three in the country and if you choose to try another style steak, I recommend the bone in Rib Eye (Cowboy Steak). I consider myself a regular at this location and would suggest this to anyone looking for a phenomenal steak, good food, and outstanding service. Visit Stoney River and ask for a table near the fireplace as it gives a little extra if you want to impress someone special. I fully endorse this brand and will return soon.

We arrived at Stoney River in Annapolis on Sunday June 15th at 3:25pm for a 3:30pm dinner reservation. We were not seated until 4:05pm. Our server (Jocelyne 754211) approached our table at 4:10 pm to take our drink orders. Since it took us longer than we expected to be seated, we immediately placed our drink orders which included four cocktails, one soda, water for our entire party, a hot tea with lemon & honey, several appetizers, bread baskets and a side of mashed potatoes (we had a hungry one year old with us).

About 15 mins later our appetizers arrived, and I also asked for an update on the side order of mashed potatoes and bread. The cocktails and hot tea arrived next, and I reminded the server to bring honey for the tea. We also asked again for bread and were told that the kitchen was backed up. Our server told us she would check on the items and proceeded to take our dinner orders. Shortly after this a manager came to our table to apologize for the delay and I asked once again for bread and honey for my tea. The manager brought the honey out right away and bread for the table. When the server returned, I asked about the mashed potatoes and was told she would check the kitchen again. She also told me she checked the kitchen and she was told that the restaurant was out of honey, which makes no sense because I guess she wasn’t aware that the manager had already brought some honey to the table.

During this time, we noticed that our server was given several other tables and appeared visibly overwhelmed. The mashed potatoes finally arrived at 5:10pm, a whole hour after placing the initial order and they looked as if someone just slapped them on the plate. Our dinner orders came out shortly thereafter and we were missing creamed spinach, sweet potato casserole, asparagus and my lamb chops were runny with blood, which I immediately sent back because I asked for them to be prepared medium well with very little pink.

Our server was overwhelmed, inexperienced and did not anticipate the needs of her customers. She walked by our table several times and NEVER brought the water or soda even after being reminded several times.

I understand that it was a holiday, however, that is no excuse for the poor planning by the management team to provide a better experience for your customers. I felt compelled to write this letter because we frequent this restaurant often, however, this visit was a horrible Father’s Day experience for my...

I rarely write reviews, but I feel this needed to be done. My wife and I ate at the Annapolis Stoney River for a New Years dinner. The food was good and our waitress (Judy) was very nice. This is the only reason I am giving this review two stars. Everything else about the dining experience was terrible. The tables were too close together, the place was very noisy, we were pretty much eating on top of other guests. The Bread lady, literally tossed our bread on the table in what could only be described as a drive by roll dump. The shift manager that night stopped by to ask how everything was going and we mentioned we did not receive one of the steak toppings we asked for and politely asked to make sure we were not charged. Instead of just saying OK, she started interrogating us about who are server was in a very uncomfortable manner. I felt like she was trying to make me identify someone in a line up. It was not her fault and we were not assuming blame. These things all happen on a busy night and would have and could have been overlooked.

However, that part we could not overlook was that my wife had her purse stolen while we were eating. At first we thought it may be been misplaced and asked the restaurant to check. Which they did and could not find it. It was after assuming the best, we realized it was stolen from our table while we were eating. My wife never left the table. When we informed the restaurant this had happened, they simply said, I am sorry to hear that, in a very matter of fact tone. They could not have cared less. They did not seem surprised or offer any assistance. They just had the attitude of "what do you want us to do about it". For a higher end restaurant you would not assume something like this would happen, and if it did, they would go above and beyond to help assist. Instead they were basically just ignoring us and hoping for us to leave.

While we were eating, the thieves, took all my wives credit cards and (attempted) to charge thousands of dollars at the target store near by. Luckily we were able to recover the purse, drivers license, and cell phone the next day, as it was thrown in a trash can outside of the Target, which was recovered by the Annapolis Town Center grounds crew.

This was by far one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had and it completely ruined our New Years, as we had to spend the rest of the night cancelling...

Service was not up to par from previous visits. My girlfriend and I will probably not return to this location due to our experience. First, the waiter came out and took our drink orders, then asked if we were ready to order. My girlfriend wanted a chicken dish, and the waiter flat out told her " I wouldn't order that..." My girlfriend asked him why and his response was "It's bland and doesn't have much taste." (Red Flag 1) She continued to order it anyway then it was time for my order. I asked what the special seafood was for the evening and his response was "Rockfish I believe" I said "Okay I'll take A & B sides with that." his response was "it comes with other sides I think but Ill let you know". Long story short our food comes out.. (well what we thought was our food) The special was not rockfish it was trout.. My girlfriend's food was then taken back with the trout and after about 5 minutes our waiter came over and asked my girlfriend "You didn't order chicken" (Redflag#2) She responded "I did" he responded by saying "Well Why did they send it back" I said "because I never ordered trout" he then apologizes and says " Can I get you something else?" I responded a Salad would be nice (thinking a salad is quick to make) My girlfriends food comes out cold (More then likely sitting next to that un-eaten trout I never ordered) followed by my salad... 20 minutes later.. Waiter never came back over after other then to ask if we were ready for the check and if we would like a box.

Purpose of the story (Reminder this isn't an outback steakhouse or Applebees where I can see this happening and not care), #1 Don't avoid a mistake made, #2 Know your menu, #3 Be more attentive to your customers in making sure they are taken care of.

I never ever write a bad review but this experience left me with a sour taste in my mouth after my experience along with watching the manager go to over 6 different tables to apologize and correct wrong orders or concerns that were brought up. (This sealed the deal knowing this place isn't running right)

Disclaimer: I never talked to a manger, and the only compensation to correct our service was we weren't charged for my...
