See the gravy in my photo? My husband took one bite and said, “Wow, that’s how KFC’s gravy used to taste!” I met the Colonel back in 1972 in Hawaii, of all places. While it’s not the Deep South, Hawaii is the southernmost state in the U. S., and my school met him at Hilo Airport with leis and songs. He was a true gentleman and shook our hands. Then he treated us all to a free meal at the first ever KFC in our tiny town. The gravy was delectable and legendary. KFC was my family’s favorite chicken restaurant for decades after that. Until the Colonel passed on, and his successors have lost the ideals he held, along with the gravy recipe. Well, Jacks in Anniston has that dedication to using high quality ingredients and not skimping on anything. We enjoyed the fried chicken meal, chicken biscuit (they serve some breakfast items all day) and the hand-scooped ice cream. Most of all, the staff was friendly and caring. The woman at the register knew the customer ahead of us by name and asked if he had his military card so she could give him the Labor Day discount. Their food is the best fast food I've ever had. They're a little on the expensive side as far as fast food goes, but the staff is pleasant and always wear a smile.EDIT: PLEASE BE CAREFUL AT ANY PLACE ON QUINTARD BECAUSE I WAS ROBBED AT JACK'S THIS PAST WED NIGHT 12-11-19. I DON'T BLAME JACK'S AT ALL, I BELIEVE IT WAS JUST ONE OF THOSE FREAK THINGS BUT I WANTED TO WARN OTHERS. I ORDERED THEN I WENT AROUND AND PARKED DOWN BY THE DUMPSTER (they were very busy it was the nearest open spot) I HAD JUST GOT THRU DOING A LIL CHRISTMAS SHOPPING SO MY CAR WAS FULL OF BAGS. HE KEPT TRTING TO GET A RIDE & I KEPT SAYING I COULDN'T THAT I DIDN'T KNOW HIM. THEN THERE WAS A GUN I GAVE HIM ALL MY MONEY, HE WANTED MY WHOLE WALLET & ABOUT THAT TIME I SEE BLUE LIGHTS, HE SAW THEM & AND TOOK OFF. It was just a cop pulling over a lil old lady over but it saved me too. Went thru the drive thru . The rude little girl taking my order cut me off after i gave her my code for a free drink telling me to pull around . I had to tell her that i was not done ordering. I orderd a 2 piece bone in chicken dinner only to be told when I got to the window by the little girl that there out of bone in chicken . If she would have told me that at the speaker instead of cutting me off I would have went elese where . So i got the chicken tenders instead , they were very old & hard .Customers need to hear the smile in people's voice. Better training please.
