Like many, we use to come here alot and absolutely loved it. We pulled in on a Saturday at 9am and I thought it was permanently closed. There were 2 cars in the parking lot. We walked inside to an empty bakery (literally)....empty bakery cases and displays taken down and just laid out on a table in the entry way. If i didnt just hype up my 3yr old for donuts, i probably would have just walked out. Honestly, i felt like i was in the wrong spot. There were maybe 4 trays of donuts and danishes in the massive bakery case. The donuts look like they've been redipped in icing, after tasting them, i wouldn't doubt it. They are incredibly stale and dried out, basically inedible. We asked for glazed and they only had maple glazed, a few old fashioned donuts and a couple sprinkled donuts. The worker apologized and said everything that they had was used for orders. We're super disappointed. I wish we would have read current reviews before we tried to go. I hope someone buys this place and restores it back to the original glory it deserves for such a loved location from the community.

Man has this place declined. There's never any bakery to purchase. If you go on a weekend, it'll be cleared out before noon. If you go on a weekday, there's literally a fraction of the selection of donuts they used to have. That's fewer types of donuts, fewer donuts alltogether, and fewer alternatives such as cupcakes, cookies, or "bee stings," a product they'd been known for. Additionally, customer service has take a huge nose-dive in recent years. No longer are there multiple well-trained clerks to help. Now its retirees that do more socializing with fellow retirees than provide help to customers. Lastly, the quality of the product has gone down considerably since the new owners took over a decade ago. It wasn't immediate, but it's clear that the product is no longer superior to the alternative bakeries in the area. Sadly, this place is exceedingly average at this point... that is not a compliment.

August 14, 2023 10:00am one lone customer reading a book. Years ago this was a place “to be seen at”. Now, my oh my how things change. No baking goes on in this building anymore, everything is shipped in from Woullet’s. I must say our three donuts were quite good. Bakery items five stars. The rest of the place no stars. My coffee looked like it came from an oil rig in some far off state, jet black! Possible the worst coffee I have had in my many years on earth. The exterior had weeds growing all over the place. The patio was a shambles. The floor inside may have been swept or mopped a very long time ago. The bathroom, only use in a personal emergency. Very untidy.

The staff was very rude and unwilling to work with us. I inquired about the cakes on display and before I could even finish asking the question she interrupted saying "I can't sell you that, it's only display." Ok... I understand the cake needs to be baked, I was asking about pricing and how long it would take to get one made. She had no idea for either of those questions. She just replied "idk, it's on the website when you order it, and probably some time next week".

We moved to order a dozen donuts in an assorted box option, again before I could finish asking if we can have the birtner bo..., "I can't sell you that, we don't have all the donuts".

I then asked her to give me whichever ones are available and skip the ones they're out of, I'll pay the a la carte price. She didn't understand and said I can't do that because we don't have all the donuts. I ask her to skip the ones she didn't have. "No I can't do that, because they don't have all the donuts."

So then I asked if I can read off the donuts from the list and she could add it to the box, "no I can't do that because we don't have all the donuts". Uhm okay... so then I asked her to just grab me a random assortment of a dozen donuts(not from the predetermined list posted on the wall). She declined that as well, saying the prices are all different and posted. She wasn't understanding the fact that I just wanted a dozen donuts and didn't care which assortment. I understand all the items are differently priced, just needed a simple task of picking a random assortment of dozen in a box, which the employee was not able to assist with.

If she was nice about it, I wouldn't have cared but she was blatantly rude and didnt care, pretended like she wasnt suppose to be there or didn't know how the business fully operated.

Oh and the "cherry on top" at the checkout process, she takes the gloves off when closing the box up..(why?) She ended up touching the donuts with her bare hands to move them around.

We are avid bakery goers, but suffice it to say,, unfortunately, we will not be returning or recommending this bakery to anyone based solely on the experience we had with the...

What a depressing scene!

Coming in to Anoka for the morning, we saw this place, lookin' cute on the side of the road and thought it would be a nice brunch situation (10:30 am). When we walked in, there were PLENTY of red flags to send us right back out the door. About 20 total donuts under the bakery glass, 2 croissants, 1 anemic looking loaf of sandwich bread, and an empty, MASSIVE kitchen. Unfortunately we persisted and ordered a couple of donuts, a croissant, a coffee, and a hot chocolate.

Oh. My. God. This could not have been worse. The donuts were bland to the point of being flavorless. The croissant was dry and stale on the outside, and somehow raw dough on the inside. The coffee I pulled myself from a stainless steel tankard you might see at a construction site, and it was definitely pre ground coffee from a tin or can. The hot chocolate was LITERALLY A PACKET OF SWISS MISS and hot water. One donut got finished, the rest of the food and drinks wound up in the trashcan quickly.

On top of this, the service was rude and miserable. After ordering my coffee the lady slammed the paper cup (wow) down in front of me and immediately turned around to handle some other task. Upon discovering the abysmal state of my croissant, I asked for some butter and was given a curt "no, we don't have that."

A bakery without butter? Fascinating.

I imagine this place was once a local staple, but it's glory days are clearly far in the rearview. I wouldn't go here again if...

Very disappointed. I’m new to the area and heard good things about this bakery. I placed an order online for 13 donuts earlier this week and got a confirmation email stating it would be ready the following Saturday after 10:35. I arrived after 10:35 that Saturday and they didn’t have my order. The woman who waited on me, Allison, was able to find my order in the computer and said there was a hiccup and they “didn’t get it”. She asked if there was something else she could do for me because they didn’t have much left for donuts. She then said I could come back tomorrow (Sunday) and assured me they’d have my order. I agreed to that and told her I’d be there at 9:30 Sunday morning. My kids were understandably bummed. I called Sunday before making the trip down there, but I didn’t get an answer. I arrived on time Sunday and once again they didn’t have my donuts and Allison wasn’t there and didn’t offer any communication to her coworkers regarding my order. The bakers working on Sunday were very kind and offered other donuts because they were out of many things again, including this bee-sting we’ve been wanting to try. I declined the $31.25 offer of leftover donut holes, or whatever was left and asked for my money back. Once again my family of 6 were bummed. There are a lot of other small businesses I can give my money to during this pandemic. Han’s Bakery won’t be...
