âThis was a tough rating to give because the owner is an absolute doll and the restaurant itself is charming- Odd layout, but the dining area is pretty. My fiancĂ© booked this as a surprise since Iâm a huge fan of oxtail, and theyâre the only spot in the area that serves it. Reservations were a challenge, as the latest available time was 5:30PM and theyâre only open a few hours a day, 4 days a week. When we arrived, we were surprised to learn that there were only two items on the menu- jerk chicken or jerk pork. No oxtail, which was the reason we came. We sat in the dining room, which was lovely but thankfully empty, as itâs quite an intimate space to share with strangers. The food was served hot with generous portions, but both the chicken and pork were extremely spicy, and all the dishesâincluding the mac and cheese and plantainsâtasted very similar with the same jerk seasoning throughout. This is a unique spot with lots of potential and a wonderfully sweet staff, but unfortunately it wasnât the experience we were hoping for, so we wonât...
Read moreMight I say the best food in Antioch? Iâve been coming here for the past two years and originally I was living in South Bend, Indiana and then visited here on the whim when I visited some family here. Honestly the Jerk Chicken has actually gotten BETTER than when I first tried it. I donât know what ingredients they changed but now itâs the perfect amount of spice and the meat falls off the bone. The portions are still generous as when I first ate here and the food STAYS FRESH! Youâre never getting stale food here folks. Itâs very flavorful and seasoned so well. The prices arenât too much and you get your moneyâs worth. Also the owner is super nice and accommodating. I do have to say that parking can be difficult as street parking is required, so it can be difficult to find a spot on a busy day. But overall a delicious experience and the only restaurant thatâs my go...
Read moreExcellent taste of the Caribbean right in Antioch, IL. We tried both the Jerk Chicken and Jerk Pork and both dinners we tried were delicious and prepared with authentic spices. The dinners included Beans and Rice and choice of a side. For side choices, we tried Cabbage with one dinner and the Plantains with the other dinner. The cabbage was great, but the Plantains were outstanding. We also tried the meat patty which was comparable to a baked meat filled Pasty. The ground beef filling was also deliciously spiced. The business is mainly carry out, but we were able to dine at the front window which had seats for 3. The business also had a beautiful adjacent dining space for private events. Portions were generous, especially the Jerk Pork which could easily feed two people. Give Queens Caribbean Kitchen a try and support an incredible local...
