I have been here multiple times and all it is is HIGH PRICES and HORRIBLE FOOD. But this last time was especially APPALLING.
We placed an order online and my husband went to pick it up. When he came back and we started eating, he immediately had a problem. The chicken was completely unedible, every time he took a bite he had to spit it back out because it was all cartilage! My husband is annoyingly laid back and affable, but he decided to call and talk to someone about it. IMMEDIATELY the person starts blaming us, saying we took too long to pick it up and that's what happens when deep fried food sits too long. My husband, a chef for 20+ years, explained that sitting too long does not mean the cartilage grows on the chicken. The guy still yells at him, blaming him and finally says to bring the food back. Then hangs up on us!
We bring it back, and the woman slams the bag down in a crowded dining room and starts yelling at him that next time he better pick it up faster. CARTILAGE DOESN'T GROW ON THE CHICKEN IF IT SITS TOO LONG, IT'S BECAUSE OF CHEAP CUTS OR LAZY COOKS WHO DON'T REMOVE IT WHEN PREPPING.
I have worked in customer service for over 15 years and I have NEVER treated a customer like that. Not like they care but we will never be back and we will never...
Read moreFirst time eating here. The service was excellent. Our server was very caring and checked in with us in a timely fashion that did not interfere with our dining. I ordered the Cantonese noodles with chicken and vegetables and a small order of the house fried rice. The chicken and vegetables were served in a white sauce that paired well with the crispy noodles. I wish I had asked for spicy. Still I enjoyed every bite of this dish having never had it before. The house fried rice was very typical and tasty. I took most of it home and enjoyed it the next day. Take home containers are excellent. My wife raved about the eggplant dish. She leans more toward vegetarian dishes. The atmosphere was ok. I didn't care for the employee who was directing the deliveries. He had delivery slips laid out on one of the dining tables. Surely in the 21st century there is a better way. The row of slot machines also seemed out of place in the restaurant even though they tried to locate them in such a way that they were somewhat out of sight. The food was great. The ambiance is not so much. I would definitely use this restaurant...
Read moreSzechwan Palace is a charming small Chinese restaurant in Antioch. Currently, the atmosphere is a bit disrupted due to ongoing construction, but it still retains a cozy and inviting feel.
Food: I have visited Szechwan Palace numerous times and always enjoy the food. The drunken noodles and egg rolls are my favorites. On my last visit, I tried the Kung Pao beef, which was quite good but could use a bit more wok flavor. The soup, while tasty, could benefit from a bit more spice and the addition of shiitake or Chinese mushrooms, a touch more sourness, ginger, a hint of sugar, and some rice vinegar to enhance its flavor.
Service: The service at Szechwan Palace is consistently very good. The staff are polite and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
Overall: Despite the current construction, Szechwan Palace remains a delightful spot for authentic Szechuan cuisine in Antioch. I look forward to returning and seeing the progress on the renovations and AUTHENTIC...
