Placed a mobile order via McD's mobile app for 1 large drink approx. 5 min. before arriving at 830 E. Williams St. location in Apex. This was around 7pm on a Tues. night, so not too busy. When I pulled up to drive-thru and provided mobile code, they couldn’t locate my order so I was asked to re-place my order. I politely refused explaining I had already been charged & order had already been paid for in mobile app, so was told to pull around to first window.
I showed mobile code to staff & confirmed I was at correct location, but they still couldn’t find order in system and I was kindly told to pull up to next window & someone would fix my drink. At second window, another staff person asked me to confirm my order for med. Diet Coke, but my order was for a Large Fanta Orange. Then another staff member came back and asked to see my phone and mobile code. I showed them screenshot of mobile code which I took in advance knowing I was 5 min. away when I placed my order (and mobile code only remains on screen in app for limited time)… but the extremely young male staff person had an issue with screenshot as mobile code did not appear "live” in the mobile app. Then staff member appeared to get an attitude... like I was possibly trying to scam them for a free drink???
I offered to show my order history from the app and my online receipt from Gmail, but person just made a face, walked away and came back with my drink... No smile, no thank you and offered no apology.
Am still confounded how someone can lose a mobile app order in under 5 minutes AND/or how it's possible that not a single staff person had the ability to locate a mobile app order if it didn't coincide with the exact order that customers had proceeded through the drive thru. 🤨⁉️
I order takeout approx. 3-4 times per week... but always make an additional stop at McDonald's to pick up drink(s) as McD's offers the best value and lowest priced fountain drinks around.
This happened to be my first-time visit to this McD’s as it turned up nearest to my current location in Google Maps search results— consequently, it will also be my last. This sucks for me as E. William Street is now en route to a new weekly appt. commute from Raleigh… and I will now have to drive 10 miles out of my way for the next...
Read moreI had the most horrifying experience at the new McDonalds in Apex on 55/Williams St: when getting to the pick up window, the young man who brought me my ice cream cone turned to a co-worker (just before approaching the window to hand it to me), put his mouth over the cone, stuck his tongue out over it, motioning as if licking it. Yeah, you read me correctly. I was mortified when he came over to hand it to me i vehemently replied, “I don’t want that!” He said: “I didn’t lick it”. I said I know you didn’t but your actions clearly show you were breathing all over it (in a season of. COVID) as if you were!. UNACCEPTABLE! I was so angry. No one had a mask on and I’m not complaining about that but such an action so close to an uncovered food with his mouth about 2 inches or Less from my melting ice cream cone made me SICK! He thought it was funny fooling around my food with his coworkers. I immediately reported my disgust to his manager who apologized. I told her if he isn’t fired, he should be seriously reprimanded for such inappropriate actions as a server. Too many times I’ve actually witnessed young people working in these fast food joints not taking it seriously when it comes to customer service (I know some do) But this time? I promised I’d NEVER go back to that McDonalds again and I question my decision all the time now about where I do take out. I know we don’t see everything behind the scenes, but good golly, I actually saw...

We stopped by while in the area to grab a last minute meal on the go for a family of 4. We tried to use the app to replace our order ahead of time but unfortunately we ran into issues when trying to add the to Happy meals for our kids. So instead, my wife went inside the restaurant after we had arrived, and worked with the cashier to get our order due to the issues with the app.
Our food was freshly made and nice and hot. The restaurant was fairly busy and had plenty of customers both inside and in the drive thru lines. The restaurant was clean both inside and out. Also, we had found a new burger in the app and when we showed it to the cashier, she was surprised and was not aware that it was something that could be ordered, but she ordered it for us. For reference it was a double quarter pounder with like a nacho cheese sauce and jalapenos on it, and it was absolutely delicious.
Our kids happy meals were perfect and they each loved their toy. The cashier even made sure that our boys got the correct drinks ordered and marked them for us so we could ensure that the proper soda went to the proper child.
This restaurant has excellent customer service and the employee we dealt with was super nice and kind. It was an interaction that made the entire ordeal an enjoyable experience. This is the restaurant and staff that should train all other employees and...
