I finally made it home after a long ride from work in an unusually heavy amount of traffic. My wife and two kids were waiting for me so we could discuss dinner options. After a few minutes, we decided on Wendy's. Turned out to be the worse decision of my day, maybe the worst decision of the week....
I whipped out my phone, opened the Wendy's app and placed an order. Then, I jumped in my car, drove to the location and parked my car. Easy peasy so far, right?
I walked up to the door and noticed a sign that notified customers that the location was only open for drive-thru and pickup. Fine, but the door was locked. There's another door on the other side of the building, so I hopped back in my car and drove to the other side. Well, that door was locked too. If I hadn't ordered from the app already I would have left.
As I paused to consider my options, an employee happened to walk within view and noticed me. He pointed in a circular motion, meaning that I needed to get in the drive-thru line. At this point, ordering from the app had become meaningless.
I got back in my car and drove to the back of the drive-thru line. There were four cars ahead of me so I waited as patiently as I could and finally made to the speaker. I told the woman on the other end that I was here for a mobile order and gave her my name. After a few seconds of silence, she came back and said, "I don't have your name in our history". That is not what I wanted to hear. After a few more seconds of silence, she ask for my initials and it matched an order she had. She had me in her history after all. So, after a few more minutes of the people getting their orders ahead of me, I finally made it to the heralded "second window". Victory was nigh, or so I thought.
The first inkling that things were not looking up, was when the person handed me a drink holder with three drinks in it (remember that there's four of us). I told her there should have been a fourth drink and she went back to look at my order and then gave me another drink. Then they gave me two bags, one with sandwiches and one with fries and nuggets.
Now, the obvious next move is for me to sit at the window and itemize my order to make sure it's right, but after sitting in the drive thru line unnecessarily, I couldn't bring myself to force those behind me to waste their time as mine had been wasted thus far. So, instead, I simply pulled forward enough for the person behind me to start getting their food. I mean, I wasn't just going to drive off. I've been to this Wendy's before...
It didn't take long for me to figure out that I was one Spicy Chicken Sandwich short. So, I pulled into a parking spot and went back to the locked door. Of course, now there were no employees in view. And, with Wendy's standard two door entrance/exit, no amount of knocking could get anyone's attention.
I walked to the only place I could get someone's attention, but there was a car there, presumably picking up an order that they would have to get corrected. So, I stood on the other side of the car and got the woman's attention. I told her that I was shorted a Spicy Chicken Sandwich. She acknowledged me so I went back to the locked door and another person handed me a bag with a sandwich inside.
I was so happy to get all the items in my order, it didn't occur to me to check to make sure I was given the correct thing. I mean, I just told her I was missing a Spicy Chicken Sandwich and they came out with food less than a minute later. What could go wrong? But, maybe that's my fault?
I get home and, of course, it was not a Spicy Chicken Sandwich. I was some double burger...maybe a Dave's Double?? I don't know what it was; it was something I never ordered and turned out to be really bland anyway.
Can I please never have...
Read moreOne star for ridiculously slow service, inedible food quality and atmosphere/employee attitude) is too high for my visit on Sunday, 11/19/23 at approximately 7:40 pm. I placed my drive through order and paid with no problem other than being told the chocolate frosty machine was not working. At that point, I wish I had driven off and gone to Panera’s or Chili’s instead. I would have saved a lot of time and not wasted $30 for two inedible meals. There was only one car at the in front of me at the pickup window. I sat behind that vehicle for over 15-minutes before they were served. After being served the food, the vehicle sat at the window for several minutes trying to get the attention of the female attendant working the window to be given napkins and plastic eating utensils which were obviously forgotten from their order. I finally pulled up to the window and sat for several minutes, not seeing anybody, before the female attendant working the window handed me two, melted peppermint Frosties. I asked her to replace them as they were obviously melted, having sat there for who knows how long. At that point she got a huge attitude with me, walked off, made a comment to another employee. She then proceeded to make small Frosties and served them to a vehicle setting at the payment window. I did not see her again for another five minutes. When I did see her, she was again talking with the other employee. I believe orders were being served from the payment window as there were several cars that pulled away from behind me.
Finally, she went to the Frosty machine, made my 2 Peppermint Frosties, and brought them to me. I told her that I also ordered a Sprite and asked for a drink carrier. It took me over 10-minutes at this window to receive my order. I drove home only to discover, unsurprisingly, that the order was wrong and ice cold. I order an Asiago Chicken combo and a Classic Chicken combo. The Classic Chicken was spicy and on what looked like an Asiago bun. The Asiago Chicken was on a regular bun, cheese was not melted, and I found a long black hair in it. The fries were not edible. Furious, I looked for a copy of my receipt but evidently was not given one. I tried calling the store several times to speak to a manager, but they were not answering the phone, and there was no voicemail recording to leave a message. Tomorrow, I will find out who owns this store and I will also report the incident to a regional manager. This is not the first time I’ve received inedible food and horrible service from this Wendy’s location. From the reviews, I’m not the only one. I posted photos of a meal in the trash, and a second meal that ids going...
Read moreIf you like Wendy's, don't visit this one. Long story short, they're rude and don't know what guest recovery is. First, the wait was fairly long for only a few cars, but whatever, not in a rush. The woman on the speaker sounded miserable. The man at the first window was friendly, however when I went to pick up my food at the second window, I was told they don't even have some of the items I ordered through the app and offered an exchange. It didn't sound like they were out, more that they don't even sell them.
It was half the order, so I wanted to cancel and try another location. They said do it through the app, but they had already processed it to charge me and it couldn't be canceled. Another woman came to the window to see what I wanted to do and I chose two items to replace the 4 that they didn't have. The two I picked were about 40 cents higher, but its hard to evenly swap items without being able to remove them from the order and start over, and besides, YOU didn't have what I paid for and offered replacements. The woman said I could only have 1 item that was about $1.55 less than I paid for the 4. I said thats not the same price I paid and she argued with me that it was. I showed her the price shown for what I wanted and she said they charge more than what the app does, even though the price updates depending on location. Since she refused to give me equal value after offering an exchange and argued about it, I wanted the order canceled entirely. I have no idea if they processed a refund, but I will make sure I get my money back. I went to another a couple miles away and got good service along with hot...
