El Pollo loco is very frustrating to me because it's hit and miss as far as quality of food. Every other time I go there I am sadly disappointed. Why why, because on these occasions the chicken is so dry and shriveled up and hard that you can not eat it. Or they give me such a tiny amount of salsa when I purchase extra salsa and I get home and there's just three And they are very tiny. So I will be sad and disappointed and wait and then maybe a couple weeks will go by and I will just really crave the chicken and I love that salsa and I don't eat anything else I don't want any sides I just love the salsa on top of the chicken and it's wonderful except when it's not wonderful so there's the frustration and it's literally every other time. So the last time was okay I actually did get the right amount of salsa which I requested three times and I had to open the bag at the drive-thru window and show the young lady that they did not give it to me and I paid the price they charge for a pint side dish and they didn't give it to me so they fix that and the chicken was actually okay so I enjoyed that dinner. I'm a little afraid to go back though because this is the turn of the rotation where it's going to be dry lol. I've actually looked up several times how to make it at home and I'm about ready to go that route it's the combination though of the flavor on the chicken the grill and the salsa all together that makes it so good so I don't know if I'm going to be able to duplicate that at home we'll see. Ordered 2 classic chicken tostadas and asked for them to add avocado, a three piece meal with rice and coleslaw, two chicken avocado burritos, a large coke and a large sprite. Got our order and there was no avocado on our tostadas so we told the lady and she acted like we didn’t ask for it and then handed us a few slices of avocado in a small bag that were brown not fresh at all, then she didn’t give us our drinks so my husband said and our drinks? She says you didn’t have drinks. My husband told her we ordered a large coke and a large sprite, and she says oh yea oh yea. She then asks your sides we’re beans and rice right? He told her no I ordered rice and coleslaw. So we leave get home take our food out and we didn’t get the three piece we ordered we got a two piece. Not one napkin either. Read moreUpdate. After leaving a review with the online website they contacted me and apologized for any issues that I had. And I should have probably been a little bit more understanding considering covid and how hard it is right now getting employees to work for minimum wage considering they can sit on their butt at home and make the same amount of money. But plain and simple the fact that management reached out to me and apologized is pretty awesome. My only issue still is going to be that I think they're a little overpriced that's why I would have lifted it to five stars but $3 for a BRC burrito is still a bit extreme and 250 for a pretty small Taco is also pretty darn high.
I will never eat at an El Pollo Loco again. $3 for a bean rice and cheese burrito and $2.50 for a tiny and very dry Taco al Carbon. Came to $5.90, I will be going to Del Taco from now on, same amount of food for $2.16 and way...
