Chips and salsa, especially the salsa were really good. Other than that, that's as good as it gets. I called at 9 pm on a Friday night, to ask what time they were closing, the answer I got over the phone was, if it's slow they're closing at 9:30p and, they said, it was looking pretty slow. I called because that's not the first time they have told me "it's slow and they're closing early", despite their posted closing hours being listed as 10pm. I took a gamble, because essentially that's what it was at that point, and went anyways and arrived by 9:20pm. I pulled up into the parking lot and saw 3 employees, right in front of the entrance vaping and talking. I walked past them, through the entrance, and just stood there waiting to be seated. The hostess stand was empty, there was no one behind the bar and I stood there waiting for any type of staff to present themselves in hopes of being greeted and being seated. At that point is where I should have realized I should have gone elsewhere. I finally decided to just go ahead and seat myself at the bar, and wait for someone to show up. Low and behold, 2 staff members, 2 of which who were outside when I pulled up, walked up and greeted me. So both of you, George and a young lady with black hair, saw me walk up, continued your break together, and just let me sit there knowing there wasn't anyone behind the bar. Disappointing. We ordered. Waited for our food to arrive. As I sat there waiting, I watched the staff tell another couple that walked in, that they were closed already. As I'm sitting there waiting, I see a handful of staff. Damn. The owner really has a high budget in terms of labor cost. I'm looking to my right and in the corner where some staff member has their personal bag of gummy worms, they also have a beer to apparently wash their candy down with. As I'm eating my dinner the same young lady with the black hair pulls out a pink liquor bottle and her and other staff members start to 'cheers' each other. I'm over it. Definitely not coming back. Staff doesn't care. Good luck...
Read moreMy wife and I recently dined at Los Domingos in Apple Valley and had a delightful experience. Our server, Christa, stood out with her friendly demeanor and willingness to answer all our queries. Her engagement and customer service were exceptional.
For drinks, we opted for water and horchata. The horchata was satisfying, though it resembled the kind you might find at an AmPm gas station. The inclusion of lemon with the water without us asking was a thoughtful touch.
The chips and salsa were a treat. The mild salsa had a fantastic flavor, while the green and liquidy spicy version provided a delightful kick for those who enjoy some heat.
Moving on to the main course, we chose the Molcajete, a hearty option that included rice, beans, tortillas, and a soup or salad for two. This dish is definitely designed for sharing and left us impressed. With a variety of ingredients like chicken, carne, onions, cactus, and even bacon-wrapped shrimp, it was a burst of flavors. The cheese portions were particularly generous. On the whole, the Molcajete earned a solid 4/5 rating in our books, mainly due to the substantial portions for the reasonable price. The only drawback was the chorizo, which didn't meet our expectations.
Aside from the chorizo, everything else was fantastic. The combination of chicken, carne, onion, cactus, and bacon-wrapped shrimp was a delightful array of flavors. The standout items were complemented by gigantic cheese portions.
As for appetizers, we tried the abondigas soup and a Caesar salad. The soup was different from what we were used to but still enjoyable. The meatball was a highlight, although the soup had a tomato soup-like taste. The Caesar salad stood out with its great flavors.
Overall, our experience at Los Domingos was exceptional, and we'd eagerly return. The standout service, satisfying main course, and tasty appetizers made for a wonderful evening. It's safe to say that Los Domingos has won us over, despite a minor quibble...
Read moreAs a restaurant reviewer with extensive culinary experience, I must say that my encounter with this establishment was truly exceptional. Having sampled a wide array of Mexican cuisine throughout my illustrious career, I can confidently attest that this place not only met but surpassed my expectations. Although we were restricted to the lunch menu, each and every dish flawlessly achieved its intended purpose, leaving an indelible mark on my discerning palate.
Adding to the complexity of the situation, our party consisted of a formidable 18 individuals. However, our server's prowess in orchestrating the service was truly commendable. With deftness and precision reminiscent of a synchronized swimming performance, she flawlessly managed not only our table but also attended to the needs of others with finesse and grace.
Drawing upon my own experiences as a former chef, I couldn't help but empathize with the monumental task that awaited the kitchen staff when confronted with an order comprising 18 separate requests amidst the burgeoning lunch rush on a bustling Friday afternoon. The sheer dedication and skill required to navigate such circumstances is truly a testament to their culinary prowess.
Furthermore, I must mention that my son was particularly enamored with the adorned jerseys of renowned sports figures adorning the walls of this establishment. The ambiance was further enhanced by a remarkable bar boasting an extensive selection of intriguing libations, providing a delightful complement to the culinary experience.
In conclusion, this restaurant has undoubtedly earned its place among the culinary elite. With dishes that tantalize the taste buds, impeccable service that rivals the finest ballet, and an atmosphere adorned with the accolades of sports legends, it is an establishment that warrants the highest praise from even the most...
