Capitol Centre — Restaurant in Appleton

While the fish fry was tasty, the beer in bottles is old. One customer came up and returned several (at least a six pack of unopened beers and a couple more) Sam Adam's bottles because they were well past their best by date and tasted bad. He received a different beer but he was promptly ridiculed by the bald bartender to all of the other customers at the bar. The bartender put the returned beers that still had their caps on them back into the cooler. Another customer ordered a Lakefront Brewery beer which is unpasteurized making the use by date important. It's currently the end of September, the use by date on the bottle was June. Instead of refunding her money since they paid when getting the beer and were leaving, they gave her a drink token if they ever came back. Our first time here & won't be our last. A very busy place & we arrived at 5:00. Food would be a 5 atmosphere a 3. Seems like more of a gathering place with large bar & high tables. Not your typical Supper Club atmosphere, but we weren't expecting that. My husband & I had the junior portion baked Haddock with Baked Potato & fried Haddock with Onion Rings. Rye bread & Cole Slaw. Perfect proportion for us. Two others had baked Haddock & our son had the Blue Gill which he said was the best he's ever had. We all agreed the food was well presented, very tasty & arrived hot. At first glance of the menu, I was already impressed. The variation of food was pleasing to see, especially in an area ruled by the same types of bar foods. I glossed over the prices, and although I determined that they were fair, I had some reserves that my order would not fill me. I was wrong. The prices are more than generous, compared to the amount of food given. My order arrived (via Eatstreet), and my lord, the explosion of flavors was simply decadent!
