Absolutely the worst Chicago dog I've ever had in my life. I grew up in the Chicagoland area. I know what a Chicago dog is. This place does not sell a Chicago dog even though they advertised it. First, they microwaved the bun. It should be a steamed bun. Microwaving a bun makes it hard as a rock. It crumbled when I bit into it. Then they didn't use the right relish. They use regular or sweet relish which makes it taste awful. A Chicago dog has a deli relish (it is best recognised by its bright green color). Then they put the condiments all in the wrong order. Especially with the mustard on top which made it a very messy sandwich to eat. I've had better hot dogs at Kwik Trip. Nothing Windy City about this place. When I said something to the employees about it they didn't seem to care. I will never go to this place again and will be telling all my friends to avoid it. I would give it zero stars if I could. This is how you make a real authentic Chicago dog: a Rosen poppy seed bun steamed, Vienna Beef number 9 Natural Casing Hot Dog, mustard next, then Deli relish, next diced onion, then sliced tomatoes , sport peppers, topped off with a kosher dill pickle, sprinkle celery salt on top. This is what they did: Rosen bun microwaved , hot dog of some sort, pickle spear first then onion then regular sweet relish then tomato then sport peppers and mustard all over on top making it a big mess. Terrible! Do it right or don't do it at all, or just remove the name off the menu and just call...

Alright, where to start? We walked in on a calm weekend afternoon with no expectations of what the food would be like but high hopes for finding a new spot that could satisfy our Chicago food itch. Being a Chicago native I’m always on the lookout for a good gyro and an amazing Italian beef.

I went with a gyro which was generously portioned with heaps of meat as a gyro should be the tzatziki sauce was perfectly made and tasty. The fries were a delicious and perfectly crispy they paired perfectly well with the gyro of which I unluded pictures. Pepsi product we’ll carbonated and we’ll mixed.

You might be wondering if all was well with the food why am I rating it 4 stars? Well… the small details of the restaurant can’t help but be noticed. While it’s an overall pleasant place to sit it seems like there’s been an overall neglect of cleaning the things that are frequently used. The pop machine had old old pop splash covering it I can’t imagine what the inside looked like. The napkin dispenser was also grimy. Vinyl on the seats was torn open in some booths. Additionally, and this is just a nitpick, the decor in the place doesn’t seem to follow a theme. It’s not Chicago themed, it’s not Chicago sports themed , it’s not sports themed, it’s somehow a hodgepodge of all of those things and it takes away from the restaurant.

I’ll be back for sure though. I still have to try the...

I honestly wish there was a NO star rating as that is exactly what I would give. We ordered one combination with Italian sausage, sliced roast beef, provolone cheese and peppers. I had my dry with aujus on the side with fries and a drink. My Partner had the roast beef combo dipped with American cheese and fries. Paid $28.00 My Italian sausage was so dried I took it out of my sandwich and banged it on the table.

The roast beef was HORRIBLE thin and tasted like it was frozen meat reheated from Gordons… disgusting.

I took my sandwich back to the counter and I stated to the young man that I didn’t like the taste of the roast beef and the Italian sausage is hard and dried out. I asked for a Chicago Dog instead and asked for the difference that I had paid, he said we don’t give money back.

Another man approached me and started yelling at me and refused to give my money back minus the $4.49 for one hotdog. He said it’s my problem that I don’t like their food and refused to give my money back.

We left all the food at the table and walked out! The WORST FOOD & SERVICE EVER!!

I felt literally robbed. The manager said that I’m the “only”person that has ever complained. I find that to be bull$h!t…. To this day I would never go back.. plus they took my money and I had nothing to show for it.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DONT WASTE YOUR...

9/8/2024. First picture is an actual Chicago Italian Beef from Chicago!!! Customer Service: 9/10 How Fast the food came: 9/10 Quality of the food: 6.4/10 Pricing: Above average Ordered a Gyro combo and an Italian beef combo and it came to $28. I took a trip to Chicago last week and stopped by Johhnies Italian Beef. The difference is night and day between that and the Taste of the Windy City. I think what throws off the Italian beef for the Windy City is the bread. A different type of bread was used in the city. The Gyro was decent, above average. Fries and onion rings were fresh and hot. The portion on the onion rings were kind of sad so be aware when you order them. The service was top notch. 2 gentleman working who spoke with manners and served fast with a decent crowd plus Uber eats orders. I would maybe stop back because my go to spot is Chicago grill more towards downtown Appleton. Will do a review on them soon!
