Just moved to the neighborhood and my son and I went there for dinner. They had a live scallop Special yet they were out, so I ordered the cooked salmon dinner special and my son ordered the grilled chicken dinner special. The food arrived on a thin very large plastic plate with each plate showing a dried out dinner portion with one lone slice of tomato and a pinch of lettuce. The plate presentation did not look appetizing. We both ate our main course and though I ate it, it would NOT ever be a repeat order for me; my son felt the same way about his chicken. The dinner special did come with some sashimi which was excellent quality which made up for the thin, over cooked and dry salmon fillet. We left the restaurant feeling hungry. 3 nights later we thought we would go back and try the sushi only, after all our sashimi a few nights earlier was very good. I was eager to try the live scallop special which cost $22.00 and that’s what I ordered. This dish is served in 2 ways. I received 1, yes 1 sea scallop which was not live, but sliced thin into 4 layers and then it was grilled with a butaine torch and served with Yuzu sauce. It tasted like the butaine gas..... a big disappointment. The second half of the scallop special was served in a large scallop shell with a stereo burner under the shell. Inside the shell was a mixture of rice, no scallop but there were thin strips of scallop muscle and some foul tasting black clam belly. The dish was absolutely horrible! So I paid $22.00 for 1 scallop that tasted like butaine. Still feeling hungry and VERY DISAPPOINTED, I thought, I’d try the sashimi, after all, that was good a few nights ago. The quality of the fish was not the same, it was very chewy and not very good cuts.... big disappointment from the grade we received a few nights earlier. Overall, I feel ripped off and again, I left the restaurant feeling hungry. They must serve something good there as the place had many other customers, none of which I noticed were eating a large plastic plate dinner special or the non-live scallop special. That’s 2 strikes for me and I’m out! Save your money and move on to the...
Read moreThe rice of the sushi is only the size of the thumb. The fish in the nigiri is simply to big for the size of the rice that’s portioned. I came to give this place a try for three times and the proportion of the nigiri is always like this. The only well-balanced nigiri is the shrimp nigiri. Their gunkan sushi is not bad.
Up until now, this sounds like a 3 star- review. The reason why this place is a one star is because of the tipping. They expect the customers to tip so they don’t have to pay their workers a fair wage. If you are not making enough revenue to pay your servers fairly, please raise the item on your menu. I would be happily paying for what I will be getting on the menu. Employers should be held responsible for the fair pay and not the customers.
I was asked to increase my tip, and I did raise my tip. She asked if the server did something wrong. The server did nothing wrong, but the employer did. I thought this establishment is free from the toxic tip...
Read moreOrdered the Rainbow Roll, Ringo Roll, 2 pieces of Sweet Shrimp, and a Yellow Tail Roll. The Rainbow roll has a beautiful assortment of seafood from tuna, salmon, yellowtail, halibut and shrimp. Each piece had good texture, and was well portioned. The Ringo Roll salmon was very good and interesting using dried apple to add sweetness to the fish. The sweet shrimp was soft and beautifully presented with the shrimp heads being fried separately as the other half of the dish; alternatively the shrimp heads could be offered as part of a soup. The Yellow Tail Roll was also a good pick that was very smooth. The atmosphere is very relaxed and peaceful here with a gradual pace of traffic coming through here. There is a shared parking in the rear of the building that is...
