Updated review 07/2020: We came up from Sacramento last year while scouting wedding venues and gave this place a shot. We tried 3 or 4 of their empanadas, including the tinga and the Reuben, and they were SO good. We also got several pie slices and oh boy. They're delicious. Chocolate silk, some peanut butter pie with bacon, blackberry, and I think sour cream apple, and a tin of pie crust cookies to bring to friends back home. We came up yesterday and placed another large order-3 varied empanadas, 5 pie slices (peanut butter, salted caramel apple, orange creamsicle, blackberry, and blueberry cream), two tins of pie crust cookies, and two tallboys of local cider. When we got back to the hotel I noticed we were short an empanada but wrote it off as no big deal. We enjoyed some of our spoils and thought nothing more of it. I got an email this morning that they'd refunded the empanada-i was so impressed at that attention to detail, especially since I never said anything. In addition to the food being wonderful, this cemented it as a tradition anytime we're up this way. Only small thing to note is with their apple pies, the apples are sliced so thin and the pies are so full-to-bursting with fruit that the apples retain quite a bit of their crunch. I don't mind, but it did catch me off guard. Still...
Read moreHad a couple of savory pies as a mid day meal. Not many folks present cool outside, we ate inside. Modern inside with exposed ceiling works and moderately loud EDM music. Brief but decent beer selection. Got a short pour of imperial and seltzer that turned out to be still, out of supply, changed that bubble to a cola. No refund for downgrading. Pies took a while, but we're very good. The chicken was firm and filling not very wet. The vegetarian pie was almost perfect. The server was a bit obtuse but not silly. The cook was great. A few calls for takeout came while waiting. Might be an opportunity for a return when in the area and feeling spendy for a small meal. Compared with our old reference, Pacific Pie in PDX, lesser size, selection, value and spice levels. After NZ pie crawling in April, we will have...
Read moreKind of a neat place. Big outdoor patio. We sat at the bar looking to order drinks and some food but were met with some resistance by the bartender about ordering food through her. I guess you're supposed to order food at the counter and then order cider separately. Ultimately they accommodated us which is good because we were kind of turned off by the convoluted ordering setup. We had chicken pot pies which were really tasty and a Cuban empanada which tasted kind of like sloppy joes. We had a mixed green salad that was not very fresh. The blackberry pie was excellent. The black bottom coconut cream pie needed work. Mostly tasted like custard with some coconut shavings in it. Their crust is delicious. Lots of interesting ciders to choose from. I'd recommend checking it out. After all,...
