Gyu San is a remarkable fusion of sushi and Japanese BBQ, and it provided the perfect setting for our celebration of a court marriage. Our evening began with a visit to the bar, where we enjoyed some drinks and indulged in the delicious takoyaki. The atmosphere was cozy, and it was a great way to start our special night.
As we made our way to the dining room for the Japanese BBQ experience, we were excited to explore the offerings. The Wagyu, as expected, was absolutely divine and melted in our mouths. But it wasn't just the Wagyu; the Kalbi and top blade were equally delectable. What sets Gyu San apart is their variety, including options like tripe and beef tongue, which we enjoyed.
What made our visit even more memorable was the engaging and friendly staff. We had delightful conversations with both the bartenders and our waiter, and it was a pleasant surprise to discover that our waiter had attended the same high school as my husband, though not at the same time.
The option to have nori or red leaf lettuce on the side is a nice touch, allowing us to personalize our meal to our liking.
However, the true stars at Gyu San are the cocktails. We opted for an Uber ride to fully enjoy the range of cocktails they offer. The lychee smash, old fashion, and salt and smoke were personal favorites – expertly crafted and bursting with flavor.
The only drawback is the typical parking hassle in the area, with costs involved. It's worth mentioning that Gyu San shares owners with Gyu Shige in Mosaic, which is closer to our home and offers free parking. This connection is a great option for those who prefer a more convenient parking situation.
Overall, Gyu San provided us with a memorable and delicious experience for our special occasion. The combination of top-notch cuisine, engaging staff, and a fantastic cocktail menu makes it a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in sushi and...
Read moreI was in the mood for some type of BBQ when I was visiting from out of town. This location popped up and it was conveniently located near my hotel. A short walk, I went over for dinner with my friend.
Now, this restaurant is definitely on the pricier side for dinner. The base price was $58, with tiers going up to $78 and $98. My friend and I opted for the $58 option. We were seated relatively quickly and put our orders in for the meats. Something that makes me a bit uncomfortable with BBQ-style restaurants like these is the time limit. I understand why they are set in place so people don’t abuse and typically the restaurants are not too strict, but it took way too long to receive any of our orders. I would say we waited at least 10-15 minutes for our first round of meats and the restaurant was not that busy. Once we got our food cooking, it was really good. We tried a lot of the top tier meats like short rib, brisket, hanger steak and more. The brisket ended up being our favorite, probably the best brisket I’ve had at a BBQ-style restaurant. I also tried the gyoza, chicken yakisoba and mushrooms.
However, we had the same problem every time we ordered. We would be finished grilling the meats and be sitting waiting for the food to be delivered. If it had only been a couple minutes in between it wouldn’t have been bad but it was at least a 10-15 minute wait every time in between. With a time limit of 2 hours, this quickly added up. It also didn’t help that when I ordered my chicken yakisoba they brought me out 2 wrong dishes before finally getting the right one. I think that dish took about 30 minutes to come out.
Overall the food was very good but the service was to be desired. Especially when you’re paying $60 (plus tip) per person...
Read moreWent here for my birthday with fam. I dont hang out late so we went at 1pm. It was pretty much a ghost town and I imagine this is more of an evening vibe place. I dont so much care about that, i mean, hello...potential no waiting and better individual service---no qualms here. We were seated by the kitchen which i thought odd since the whole restaurant empty. I didn't want to fuss though but a window seat to stare at rain clouds would have been nice.
The menu: theres only 3 all you can eat options to choose from (was never offered any other menu & I forgot to ask altho i think they have one) and unfortunately everyone has to be onboard for the same option. Which sucked because I don't eat alot so the 58 (lowest option) was a better fit for me, but others wanted more so i opted for the middle 78 one even though some in my party wanted the most expensive option 98 for the wagyu and ngiri.
Not a huge fan of spending money to cook my own food (thank God i wasnt paying)...I get it "the experience" but I experience cooking every day. The star, the meats, were just ok. Not seasoned (I've been to other Japanese BBQs where the meat was seasoned exceptionally). Had to ask for salt. I actually enjoyed the accompaniments, (not the star), more. I made a meal off the beef fried rice, as much unflavored filet mignon as I could eat, and mocha ice cream. In hindsight, I probably should have pushed for an A la carte menu. Then I could've taken my unfinished food home. I begged the server to give me a take home container. She snuck me one! Thank you cause the rice was really good. Would I go here again? Not of my own volition but maybe if fam or friends wanted to go....but for sure id be asking for the a...
