Hokkaido Sushi & Steak House — Restaurant in Arlington

It’s been a while since I’ve experienced this rude of an experience from a restaurant. I made an online order for pick up in an hours time. I get a phone call a half hour later, I answer, and a woman on the other line has the rudest tone telling me a roll is not available. It’s hard for me to fully convey how rude the tone was, but there was no introduction of who this woman was or that she worked at the restaurant, I just simply answered the phone and this cranky lady forwardly tells me “oyster roll not available”. I ask if the other roll has already been made and it had. Even though she was so rude on the phone I still decided to pick up my order because I wouldn’t want them to just have the food sitting there and not paid for. I go to pick up and stand at the counter for 5 minutes and get ignored by all the wait staff. One waiter even brought a pile of menus to the front counter I was at and still completely disregarded me and did not provide any eye contact, smile or anything. Later on an older woman comes to the front counter and I tell her I’m here for pick up and provide my name. You grabs a bag from behind the counter and drops it in front of me. She gets the register to get it ready for me to pay and then the next second she walks off and goes to take a child to the restroom without any word to me whatsoever. So I pay for the food and the receipt gets printed out but she completely left me there without saying bye, thank you, or anything acknowledgment at all. I walk out of the restaurant and throw my food away. It’s really a shame how rude people are nowadays. This looked to be a family owned restaurant but how can I expect to support local and family owned when the service...

This was probably the worst sushi experience that I have ever had. It wasn't the sushi itself that was the problem. That was perfectly fine and priced exactly like any other sushi place would be which is why I went ahead and gave two stars. The sushi and the sushi chefs deserve that credit at least. But there was a woman there - the waitress said that she was the manager but I think that she was saying that she was one of the owners - who was just yelling the entire time! She was upset about something and darn it, she was letting the whole world know. She was yelling at the other employees (in Japanese of course) and just kept going for the entire time that we were there! The waitress said that she gets upset and does that all the time. If that wasn't enough, they have their phone hooked up to where it rings through the whole place and it has one of those annoying caller ID readouts - "Call from (insert random name)". Because I value my sanity while I am having my meals, I will never be back. And when we relayed that message to the yelling woman, it didn't phase her one bit. DO NOT EAT HERE. You can order your food to go (not sure why you would considering they literally have a sushi chef that works in the grocery story right there) but if you value eating in peace, this is not the...

I thought I just stopped by and get myself a cup of sushi rolls on a slow afternoon on a Tuesday. I was in the area and decided to get this place a try.

Not to give really bad reviews but this one really struck me pretty hard. There was only two other people in the restaurant and myself, So I decided that I wanted to sit at the sushi bar. Since I was going solo. As I was sitting down at the sushi bar, the gentleman behind the sushi bar was busy picking his teeth with a toothpick and saliva was dripping on his fingers while he was doing it. He proceeded to not wash his hands after he did it even though he did put on plastic gloves. It just totally grossed me out that he decided to number one do dental hygiene. Where are the food was being prepared and number two not watching his hands number three. Just totally ignoring the fact that I was there watching him the whole time.

I don't know what else to say about this place but decided to get up and leave. The manager wasn't around to address the situation so I decided that well, that's it. I'm out of here that ain't going to try to fix it or even bring it up again but now I know and you should know this place pretty well. Disgusted me, especially with the gentleman...
