EDIT: I have to drop my review down to 3 stars. The food, coffee, and ambiance are good but the WIFI absolutely needs an overhaul. I constantly lose signal and need to revert to a phone hotspot.
Remote worker's paradise finally opened in Arlington! Maybe I'll shoot myself in the foot by drawing in a bigger crowd but this place deserves all the business it can get. I work remotely and this has become effectively my second office when I'm not at my home office. I attribute this for several reasons: Awesome Wifi. I clocked them at around 300Mbps download speeds! 🤯 Many seating options: couches, lounge chairs, small tables, high tables by the window, AND a secluded area specifically built for focused work and study. Low-fi music selection, played softly enough that a good pair of headphones can cancel it out with your own music if you'd prefer. You can take calls/meetings here (I think it's generally understood that the secluded area is quiet) and as long as you're not too loud you won't disturb others and they won't disturb you too much. Decently priced coffee, tea, alcoholic drink options with free black coffee refills (they will top off a little creamer too if you ask) Fantastic variety of food options Online ordering options with delivery right to your table
On top of all that, I have to say that I really appreciate the staff. First, they are very attentive and constantly walk the shop to bus tables and re-fill waters/coffees. Second, unlike other places I've been to in the area, they don't make you feel pressured to buy more items to justify being there. I definitely try to get at least one drink and one food item while I'm there, but I don't feel pressured to buy.
A couple of personal nit-picks: The selection of outlets is a bit limited. You basically need to sit along the periphery of the shop to get one. This doesn't apply to the secluded area, which has tons of outlet options built right into the table. Some way to self-serve water would be fantastic, but understandable that they may be holding off due to COVID precautions.
I'm happy to have found this spot in Arlington and recommend it to anyone who needs a break from the...
Read moreIf you're wandering around Clarendon looking for a sign from the coffee gods, look no further than Kaldi's Social House. It's the kind of place you enter for a quick caffeine fix and end up planning your next business empire--or just enjoying a really, really good latte.
Let's talk about the sugar-free vanilla latte with oat milk. This isn't just a drink; it's a lifeline on those days when my brain is about as awake as a hibernating bear. It's smooth, it's creamy, and it makes you wonder if the oat milk is milked from oats that were raised on spa music and positive affirmations.
The atmosphere? Imagine if your cool, artsy friend opened a coffee shop: industrial chic, effortlessly trendy, and always welcoming. It's the perfect backdrop for everything from powering through emails to pretending to work while you actually people-watch and secretly craft your next fictional masterpiece. Who knows? The guy in the corner with the mismatched socks could be my next main character. (Don't worry, names and sock choices will be changed to protect the innocent).
Now, the food--oh, the food! It's off the chain. Seriously, the servings are so huge, you might need a forklift for your plate. Come hungry, leave happy, and maybe a little rounder. It's a place where your diet plans could easily go to die, but who's counting calories when the food is this good?
My only gripe? I wish they had more sugar-free flavors. I mean, variety is the spice of life, and us sugar-avoiders would like to live a little too, right? How about some coconut, almond, chocolate or mint? Come on, Kaldi's, let's make all our sugar-free dreams come true!
Bottom line: Kaldi's Social House is where you go when you want great coffee, amazing food, and an atmosphere that's both inspiring and relaxed. It's a little slice of trendy coffee heaven right in the heart of Clarendon. Five stars from me--keep pouring that...
Read moreI visited Kaldi’s coffee shop at Arlington location this evening and had an unfortunate experience with the customer service. The barista provided the rudest service I have encountered in a long time. This was my first visit to the coffee shop on June 9, 2023. Despite the disappointing encounter, I am sharing my feedback in the hopes that it will help improve the overall experience for future customers. My friends and I were excited to try out the coffee shop and ordered some food along with our macchiatos. However, the macchiatos we received were much darker and contained very little milk, contrary to our preferences. When we kindly requested a little more milk to be added, the barista's response was incredibly rude. Not only did they refuse to accommodate our request, but they also made us pay for the macchiatos, even though they were not prepared according to our specifications. We didn’t even drink it. I typically do not feel compelled to write reviews, but I felt it was necessary to bring this issue to the attention of the coffee shop's owner. It is my hope that they take this feedback seriously and provide necessary training to their staff. I even tried discussing the matter with another staff member who was present, but unfortunately, they displayed the same level of rudeness. I am unsure if the employees harbor discontent towards their work environment, but their behavior towards customers is unprofessional and does a disservice to the coffee shop's reputation. I believe that addressing these issues promptly and providing appropriate training to the employees will greatly benefit both the customers and the coffee shop itself. I genuinely hope that my feedback is taken into consideration, and the necessary steps are taken to ensure a positive customer experience...
