Been looking forward to trying this place for awhile. Cool curb appeal and location, menu was interesting. Tried it and was one of the worst restaurant experiences ever. No one noticed or welcomed us when we first came in, a person was sitting behind what seemed like a greeting area in the foyer playing on their phone. When we asked if they worked there, the expression was like, "what a dumb question, obviously not", and pointed at the bar. We walked toward the bar and felt like we had interrupted a private party or something. People looked at us and then away and ignored us, finally someone acknowledged us out of obligation and sat us but the server seemed annoyed we were there to eat and not drink, they couldn't answer simple questions about the menu, had no idea they only served plant based "chicken" until after we ordered, the food took a considerable amount of time considering we were the only diners there (red flag), fries were good but the rest was questionable, burger patties paper thin in spite of the server telling us they were "good sized". While waiting we observed the staff and how they handled things and are seriously worried about getting sick now. Our waters were never refilled even once, no one checked on us, our server left the building and disappeared before we were done, leaving us to have to flag down the bartender for a to go box and the bill. During all this it was apparently karaoke night and the sound guy thought it best to start off with a bunch of f-bombs on the mic since no one was there yet. Unprofessional, unwelcoming, poor service, subpar food (the drive in a block away serves way better burgers way cheaper). Cool building but that's the best I can say. Thoroughly...
Read moreWhere to begin? When we first walked in the piped in music was soooo loud we had to shout at each other. I expect live music to be loud but not the house music. So annoying. Guess they think that’s cool. First we ordered the street tacos and the bartender asked how many orders. I asked how many tacos there were and she said three so I said one order. When only one taco came the gal that brought it to us said no only one per order. When I looked at the menu I saw the street tacos are just one but fish tacos come three to an order. I guess bartender doesn’t know the menu. So then we ordered the nachos and hands down the worst I have ever had. It looked like a 5 year old had made them. They dumped the chips on a plate sprinkled some cheese a few cubes of dried out chicken and then dumped what looked like a huge mound of jar salsa and huge mound of sour cream. That’s it! Not even the black beans that was mentioned on the menu. When she took our order she asked what kind of meat and rattled off pork, beef or chicken. I didn’t realize until I saw the bill that chicken is $3 more. Who upcharges for chicken for gods sake??? So instead of $13 it was $16 for that unappetizing mess we only took a couple of bites of. Then we asked for our bill and I give her my card and she only gives me the merchant copy so I wait and wait and finally ask her if I was getting my copy and she says “oh you want a copy?” I was stunned. What kind of an establishment are you...
Read moreI was so disappointed in the Mirkwood last night. A group of us went for open mic night to watch our friend perform. Open mic night is advertised from 7-10pm. We arrived at 7pm and my friend was the first person that signed up on the sign in sheet. When we first arrived the host/MC was on the stage with another band member playing some songs. Then a band played for a bit, then a guy with a guitar played, then the drummer for the host/MC's band attempted a comedy routine. By now it's 9pm and they still haven't announced my friend. Then the host/MC's band starts to set up. I double check the sign in sheet. There is my friends name, at the top of the list, there are only two other names on the list, yet somehow we've been there for two hours, seen three acts and not one of them was my friend and now the host is about to take the stage with a full band with only an hour left and very few people left in the audience. I've put up with the poor service here for a while because the food is good, but snubbing my friend is not something I'm willing to overlook. Doesn't seem like a good move in a small community to snub one of only three people that signed up for your open mic. I was kinda looking forward to coming to karaoke and more open mic nights but I think I'm done giving the...
