Scutra — Restaurant in Arlington

From start to finish, the service and food were absolutely impeccable. I can't say enough about our server, John. He was so funny and entertaining, while also thoughtful and attentive. For example, I love this cocktail called Paper plane, but it is not super well-known. We showed John the ingredients and he said "Oh yeah, we can do that". Then, he brings over the cocktail complete with a Paper plane on top and playing the song "Paper planes" on his phone. Next level service! Not to mention, the cocktail was the best Paper plane I ever had.

The fresh, warm bread was top-notch and our appetizer was incredible (got the strudel special). The eggplant/tomato salad exploded with flavor and was so good with the bread.

For entrees, I had one of the specials, salmon with lobster ravioli in a saffron cream sauce. It was so rich, flavorful, and just amazing... and such a value for the reasonable price. My husband had the beef wellington. When it came out, the presentation alone left us in awe. Such a beautiful dish. It was cooked perfectly and it was by far one of the most delicious meals he ever had. I had a couple bites and couldn't agree more.

Then... coffee and dessert. We had the strawberry shortcake. Best ever... and I've had a lot of strawberry shortcakes in my life. Had this fresh strawberry sauce that gave it some tart... all of the sauces in all of the dishes were phenomenal.

When we received the bill, we really thought it was such a great value with all that we ordered. Especially with the quality, taste and presentation of the top-level cuisine.

I do not typically write reviews, and certainly not ones that are this long, but felt compelled to. We had one of the best meals and experiences ever and Scutra is such a gem. We can't wait to go back. Thank you, Scutra! -...

Highly recommend!! I'm new to Arlington and have only been to places on Mass Ave, but I went to Scutra with a friend that's lived in Arlington for decades & I'm so glad because I might not have discovered it otherwise! Lovely, comfortable, relaxed ambiance, GREAT SERVICE, and ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS FOOD AND DRINKS! We were looking for a place where we could take our time because I'm a slow eater & we're the kind of people that like to relax and catch up, so I was thrilled that this was not one of those restaurants where they come over every few minutes & ask if you want anything else or try to take your food away; they just let us enjoy ourselves & they get HUGE marks in my book for that! We shared a pitcher of sangria which was amazing! We had an appetizer of grilled zucchini with small shrimp skewers on top that it was delicious. She had the veal entree & I had salmon which were both amazing! Then we shared creme brulee for dessert which was so delicious that I wished we'd each gotten our own instead of sharing, haha. My friend is GLUTEN-FREE for medical reasons so I was very pleased to see that their menu has a lot of gluten-free options & is clearly marked identifying things that are gluten-free & VEGETARIAN. I highly recommend this place! Check them out next time you want a relaxing dinner or date night! (NOTE: a lot of people leaving reviews take off a star for ambiance, and that is beyond ridiculous!!! This place has cute bohemian decor; don't let those reviews make you think they've thrown down some old garage sale lawn chairs with torn cushions. The absurdity of saying "I can't give 5 stars" over a place not perfectly matching your decorating choices, is...

I remember going to Scutra years back when there was only 10 tables. I've enjoyed every meal there ever since! There are 20 tables and a nice bar area. The cozy restaurant has a modern and fun atmosphere in which the diner is then rewarded with beautifully plated dishes of exceptional food. Think European flare by a master chef right in Arlington! How lucky!

The parking area in front is small but don't fret, you can park after 6 pm at Shattuck's Hardware on Mill Street behind the restaurant.

It was girls night out this time. We were warmly greeted and seated right away. Unfortunately it was raining so we were inside - they have wonderful patio seating as well.

Our waiter Louis was professional, attentive and had a great sense of humor! He was able to ease his way into the many conversations were were having and took pictures for us. He was very knowledgeable about the extensive wine list and luscious menu.

For starters we had: Artichoke Tempura, Strudel (filo turnover) with Braised Shredded Pork Shoulder Cheddar Cheese- Sundried Tomato Oil, Warm Spinach Salad with bacon, onions, mushrooms and feta. Entrees were the Salmon Special. All the dishes were exceptional. Fabulously prepared flavors unlike I've had before. The desserts offered were amazing - but we were too full. Did I mention the wonderful bread brought to the table when we sat down?

We are fortunate to have such a lovely restaurant in a suburb of Boston with such a high end chef. It's fine dining without the fussiness, city prices and parking expense. And what a wonderful place for a private party! They cater as well. Check them out, you won't be...
