Very disappointed and a little frustrated I tried to order a fisherman's platter one of my favorite things to order when I usually go to a seafood place. Usually when I order I like everything in a Fisherman's Platter except the shrimps. So when I asked the clerk if they could omit the shrimps and maybe just add a few more extra scallops they replied they don't make substitutions which I really thought was a little puzzling cause the only place I've ever heard that at is in a Chinese restaurant and when you think about it I wasn't asking for a substitution I was really asking for a subtraction. But either way they told me they couldn't do it which again surprised me because when I go to most Seafood places they usually have a 1 2 or 3 Seafood combo but not this place. it seems like it was such a big hassle for them They kept telling me I could only do a two combo which was disappointing and not only that they said even if I got the two fish item combo it was still the same 30 dollar Fisherman's Platter's price. Huh?? Which I thought was all so strange why is it the same price if I'm only getting two of the items??? So in the end frustrated I decided to try and find some other place that has seafood close by in that area because I was really in the mood for it. Luckily for me and this is the good part and only reason why I gave this place three stars instead of two I wund up coming across a place in Watertown call Celebrity Pizza who not only had a Fisherman's Platter but they also had no problem taking out the shrimp and giving me extra scallops and for basically the same price Fresh Pond was going to charge me and the service and the food as well as the Fisherman's Platter was awesome!! So actually I really need to thank Fresh Pond Seafood for inadvertently directing me to finding Celebrity Pizza which also when I compared the plates pictures that I got from celebrity to Fresh Pond's online pics I'm pretty postive I got more bang for my buck and more seafood from Celebrity Pizza. Which is definitely now going to be my go-to place when I'm hungry for seafood and I'm in that area so basically thanks Fresh Pond Seafood?...
Read moreIt's sad to say, but this place has gone downhill over the last 10 years. The fresh fish counter still looks amazing, but the fried platters have gone down severely in quality to the point where I won't be going back.
A while ago I ordered one of my old favorites, the fisherman's platter. It used to be $24.99 and had enough food to split - now it's $29.99 and far more disappointing. The fish isn't as thick or fresh and they changed the fries, too.
Yesterday I got a scallop roll. It's gone up to $20, and for that much I expect fresh scallops like the ones they serve behind the counter. This scallop roll was INEDIBLE. They used bay scallops (the tiny ones) and they smelled and tasted like they were previously frozen. Definitely not fresh. I had a scallop roll out in Central MA for $9 that tasted better than this. I'm really disappointed because 5 years ago, I know I would have gotten big, juicy sea scallops with excellent flavor.
It seems like they're selling the good fish at the counter and buying bulk frozen seafood for their platters. And selling it for almost criminal prices.
I wish it weren't the case, but I won't be...
Read more5/03/25 I have been here many times. I always order fried haddock plate, not lunch specials. Today I went there around 12::15 and put in my to go order. About 10 minutes and they brought my order to me. So I hobbled out to my car and looked. Oops! Wrong order. Lob was on the container. I thought it was quick. They had called in orders completely covering counter. Mixups happen . Another 20 minutes I was called over to pickup. This is full haddock plate? He said yes. I got home 20 minutes later. Haddock was cooked to perfection as always, but no Cole slaw. The mob of French fries were mushy but the healthy portion of haddock was perfect. Will I go there again? Yes but I'm going to order just fried haddock with Cole slaw only and check it before I head out of the building. Very few restaurants cook French fries correctly, using fresh potatoes; not frozen...
