The staff, location, overall atmosphere & vibe here are immaculate! I got the Lamb Shakshuka and hot tea.
Shout out to my barista for giving me the opportunity to try the blood orange and Moroccan mint teas together in one pot! It was a really lovely combination and it warmed me up so nicely on this cold evening.
My meal was quite tasty. However, my one gripe is Tatte’s inability to accommodate my dairy sensitivity. I was informed that I could not get the Labneh on the side as it would take away from the integrity of the dish as intended. I did, however, have the option to not get it at all. And truly, that is frustrating as I would’ve liked a middle ground to give me the opportunity to try it as intended but also pay respect to my own dietary restrictions.
When in Rome we do as the Romans do, so to respect the integrity of the dish I took it as is. That said I am now paying my respects to the porcelain deity…
I implore Tatte to give its patrons the opportunity to meet them in the middle, good hospitality means being inclusive of everybody, including those who like dairy, but cannot digest it. Because unfortunately liquids are a bit hard to eat around or remove once they’ve been introduced to a dish.
Simply put if you are dairy intolerant, it’s my my opinion that the labneh at Tatte is not worth the consequences.
Which is to say that the dish was quite delicious on its own! I think the real highlight for me, though was the bread that it came with, perfectly tender with a nice crisp and a generous portion at that!
Ultimately, I look forward to returning and I’m appreciative that I do have the option to enjoy it dairy free...
Read moreOver-rated, over-priced, over-subscribed. As I waited for my overpriced, unassembled take -out Lamb Kebob that offered 3 little lamb balls for a quartered pita, a shaken woman approached the line manager at the takeout counter with her sandwich. "There's no turkey in my sandwich!" She pulled the bread apart to show him ... no turkey. The ensuing scramble was a study in hysteria and scary food handling. This sideshow was actually wonderful, as we were aging in our interminable wait for our food .... close to a half hour. This was AFTER we waited in line to order for 15 minutes, only to be informed they were out of bread, and could make no sandwiches. It was 2 on a Sunday. They were also out of quiche. So, after enduring the line, ya gotta order something, right? I settled for the lamb kenob pita. 45 minutes and a turkey-less sandwich drama later, I was starving and finally home with my long-awaited, very expensive lamb kebob pita. More disappointment. Served unwrapped, with a small quartered pita in tin foil, and 3 small bready lamb things amidst fixings in a separate plate. It was like ordering coffee, and getting back some beans and boiling water. Missing Turkey Lady is the Hero we need, and her experience perfectly epitomizes this restaurant's ability to deliver ... the overall vibe of stress and desperation, lazy food prep, and clearly overwhelmed on a Sunday is a major fail. Even if the Kebob had been amazing - it wasn't - this was an...
Read moreWent there for my first time and brought my mom to the one in Arlington. When we walked in we had no idea how it worked, do we seat ourselves, look for staff? NO ONE gave us a second look to ask if we needed help, and we were 5-feet from the espresso bar. We finally figured it out with help from a patron. Even the line at the counter wasn't organized and we got little help from the people behind the counter.
Now the food, although WAY overpriced, especially considering they don't have service / servers, is good. However I'm giving it 3-stars because we ordered a double espresso and it wasn't even the size of a regular. When we pointed it out thinking it was a mistake the "server" walking around doing who knows what, was indifferent and basically said tough luck, it is what it is.
My wife recently went to the one in Belmont and her experience was quit the opposite, so kudos the management and staff at that location because I won't go back to the one in Arlington unless I get feedback from people I know that it's as good as Belmont.
I almost never right reviews but this one was so bad, and it's sad because they are in my hometown.
Get better Tate Arlington, because anyone who brings you up will hear the same things I just mentioned, and now I'll tell them Belmont has much better and...
