My recent experience at Spice Kraft Indian Bistro was nothing short of a disappointment. What should have been a pleasant evening turned into a frustrating series of inconveniences and subpar food.

Right from the start, the seating arrangements were a headache. We requested a four-seater table (perfectly reasonable for two people with larger plates), but were initially shoved into a tiny two-seater barely fit for a tea party. Seeking comfort, we politely asked to move to a different two-seater table, only to be placed awkwardly near the entrance. Then, while trying to enjoy our meal, the attendant rudely interrupted us, claiming we were "blocking the way." After some back-and-forth, we were finally allocated a four-seater table, something that could have been done from the beginning given the ample empty space.

The unwelcome interruptions didn't stop there. Our server hovered over us incessantly, asking the same question – "Is the food good?" – not once, not twice, but a staggering four or five times! Each time, I had to answer with a mouthful of food, feeling more harassed than hosted.

Finally, the food itself was a major letdown. Both the curry and the bread were lukewarm, robbing them of their flavor and appeal. This was a stark contrast to my previous experiences at Spice Kraft, where the food was consistently hot and delicious.

Overall, the entire experience felt like a descent into dining disaster. From the seating fiasco to the intrusive server and the mediocre food, there was little to redeem this evening. It's disheartening to see a once-reliable restaurant fall so short of its past standards.

Instead of spice, Spice Kraft served up a heaping helping of frustration. To the management, I say this: Your loyal customers deserve better. Take a good look at the competition, like Spice 6 in DC, where ample space, attentive service, and consistently amazing food await. Otherwise, you risk losing your loyal patrons to restaurants that truly understand the meaning of a satisfying dining experience.

Remember, competition is fierce in the world of Indian cuisine. Spice Kraft, it's time to pull up your socks and reignite the spark that once made your restaurant a...

My recent visit to Spice Kraft Indian Bistro in Clarendon left me with a mixed bag of impressions that compelled me to reflect on various aspects of the dining experience. One of the noticeable drawbacks was the cleanliness of the establishment. From the moment I entered, there was a discernible lack of tidiness that impacted the overall ambiance. Tables appeared less than pristine, and the general cleanliness fell short of the standards one would expect from a dining establishment.

Turning my attention to the culinary offerings, the food at Spice Kraft Indian Bistro proved to be rather average. While there were glimpses of traditional Indian flavors, the overall execution failed to leave a lasting impression. The dishes seemed to lack the nuanced taste and finesse that often define exceptional Indian cuisine. This mediocrity in the food, unfortunately, detracted from what could have been a more satisfying dining experience.

Another notable aspect was the heavy smell that permeated the air within the restaurant. While one might expect a certain level of aromatic richness in an Indian eatery, the intensity of the smells at Spice Kraft felt overpowering. This, coupled with the less-than-ideal cleanliness, created an environment that left me feeling somewhat uncomfortable during the meal.

In terms of service, the staff was polite and accommodating, which provided a silver lining to the overall experience. However, the positive interactions with the staff were not sufficient to overshadow the shortcomings in cleanliness, food quality, and the overpowering smell.

In conclusion, while Spice Kraft Indian Bistro in Clarendon has the potential to be a satisfying dining destination, improvements are needed in several key areas. Elevating cleanliness standards, refining the execution of dishes to enhance flavor profiles, and addressing the overpowering smells would contribute to a more enjoyable and memorable dining experience for patrons. I hope these considerations are taken into account, as they could significantly enhance the...

Yes, yes, 1000 times yes. This is the best chicken tikka masala in the area by far and I have tried many in the area. What you do is order the chicken tikka and the masala sauce on the side. Please do give this place a try, it is a true and genuine experience. I will be back here for other stuff to try as well!!!

UPDATE When you call in your order, they do it correctly. As chicken tikka masala. It wasn't obvious with online ordering. That said, it's still amazing!!! Will return again and again.

--mini update--

This is amazing and words don't do it justice. Not only are the flavors incredible, but the meat is sooooo tender! I will not be making Indian at home again any time soon after this. Btw, the chicken tikka masala with the sauce is the same chicken tikka as you get separately. I really can't stress this enough, go here for authentic British/American/Genuine Indian food that should be the bread and butter of any restaurant here worth anything.

Just, don't second guess it, don't go anywhere else, go here. I have paid double for places that people claim to be the best in the area and they have white table cloths and what not, this is by far the best. After trying easily over 8 Indian restaurants in the area, this is the one. Don't even think about it, go here.

Order over the phone, if you want delivery, at least call them to go over what you're going to order, they were very helpful. I also had lamb rogan josh, and even though it isn't strictly on the menu, it wasn't a problem as they have a slightly different version in a different section. I will be trying all of their different sauce versions over the next few weeks and will report back.

Just, go here. Also, I had their tikka chicken wings. !!!! Amazing. I don't know why other Indian places don't do this. They marinate the wings in the same tikka sauce. They are oh so very tender, moist, and flame grilled to perfection. You wouldn't think it would be incredible, but it is.

What a wonderful and delightful...

This is a conveniently located Indian restaurant right across Clarendon Metro and good amount of street parking ($1.75 per hour). They have both indoor and outdoor sitting and are now open for both types of dining. For the appetizer we tried their spinach pakora chat which was awesome and a great deal for just $6. More of an entree than an appetizer. It’s sweet and sour, crispy and a nice blend of deep fried spinach leaves, diced tomatoes and some greens. We also tried their “build your own bowl”. A nice fusion of the Indian cuisine with the assembly line styles of personalized food popularized by the likes of Subways and Chipotle. The bowl was nice, the potatoes though still al-dente. Not sure if that was deliberate but was not enough for me to complain. But a nice blend of dishes that are filling and deliver a wholesome blend of tastes. Also come with a naan which is awesome. More food than one person can eat. Masala tea was okay. A little too milky and weak for my palate used to strong teas. All in all a great eating experience and ambience. Perhaps the only thing I did not like was their technique of “forced gratuity”. You do not really get a check. The waiter shows it on an iPad like device and once you swipe okay for the bill it takes you to another screen which gives you three gratuity options of 15, 20 or 25%. There is also the custom option that you can exercise to enter a different amount. And you have to select it while the server is standing there beaming at you! It’s like them asking “How was our service?” Good, better or best! To be honest I would have tipped them 20% anyway. I just would have liked to make that choice on my own. Great place. Highly recommended!

Service? Lacking. Food? Yummy, especially the gluten-free naan. Pro tip: plan for a cash tip at this location, so you can decide the final amount once you are actually leaving. We were rushed out after paying and tipping. Photo: the small dessert dish we were not allowed to finish. If you read through even the positive reviews, you'll note a trend of negative comments on the service provided (or lack thereof). --We were rushed out after leaving a generous electronic tip on the tablet. --Nothing was mentioned upon arrival about a time limit or a reservation following ours. We started at 4:30, when they reopened for the evening service. --Before 6, and only after paying and tipping, they suddenly rushed to clear our table and telling us we needed to leave due to a reservation waiting. --We had been there just over an hour and had not yet finished eating dessert. I am an average sized person. The tables and booths are really crammed together, making it quite uncomfortable to sit, and even more uncomfortable to reach ones food and utensils. The food was delicious. I imagine that, along with their prime corner location near a metro stop, is likely why they stay in business (not their service). Regardless of how good the food is, it is the service that makes -or breaks- the experience. Embarrassing me in front of friends I was hosting, with a rushed exit, only after I tipped generously, is poor form.
