East West Cafe, a Turkish restaurant nestled in an unconventional location, provides a culinary journey that, while offering a taste of Turkey, falls short in certain aspects. My recent visit to this establishment revealed a dichotomy between its attempt to capture Turkish flavors and the challenges posed by its location, coupled with cleanliness concerns, especially in the restroom facilities.
Let's begin with the culinary aspect. East West Cafe endeavors to bring a slice of Turkey to its patrons, and in many ways, it succeeds. The menu features a variety of Turkish dishes, from kebabs to mezze, showcasing the rich tapestry of flavors that define Turkish cuisine. The use of traditional spices and ingredients adds authenticity to the dining experience. However, the challenge lies in the comparison with the culinary standards one might encounter in Turkey itself. While the food may be considered average by those familiar with Turkish cuisine, it stands out as a unique offering in the American culinary landscape.
The location of East West Cafe is a notable consideration. Placed within a setting where Turkish restaurants are not the norm, it faces the challenge of setting itself apart and establishing a distinct identity. This unique positioning can be both a strength and a weakness, depending on the perspective of the diners. For those seeking an authentic Turkish experience, the unconventional location might pose a hurdle.
A critical aspect that detracted from the overall experience at East West Cafe was the cleanliness concern, particularly in the context of the restroom facilities. While the restaurant's efforts to transport diners to Turkey through its menu are commendable, maintaining clean and hygienic restrooms is fundamental to any dining establishment. This aspect significantly influences the overall impression of the restaurant and can impact the level of comfort experienced by patrons.
In conclusion, East West Cafe, as a Turkish restaurant in a non-traditional location, has its merits in attempting to bring the flavors of Turkey to an American audience. The culinary offerings, while average in comparison to authentic Turkish establishments, stand out in the local context. However, addressing cleanliness concerns, particularly in the restrooms, is imperative for East West Cafe to enhance its overall appeal and provide a more enjoyable dining experience. Balancing the uniqueness of its location with a commitment to cleanliness and culinary excellence could potentially elevate East West Cafe to a more prominent position within the local...
Read moreIt was the worst service I have ever experienced. This is the second time I have been treated terribly by this person's service. Looks like she hates her life and working there, so I went with my daughter yesterday. I don’t know her name. She has black curly hair and putting her hair up. But seems like she hates working there and she hates her life. I went with my daughter yesterday around 1 o’clock and my daughter was craving for breakfast. She came around with an attitude not welcoming us or saying hi. We start asking if they are still serving breakfast and she said yes. My daughter love the big breakfast that come with everything and we had a really tiredness day since morning we were running to different appointments we didn’t eat anything. Anyway when we asked about the Turkish breakfast which cost $60 and asked her if we can order. she put her eyes and eyebrows up and started puffing with her head down then looking to the door entrance. Like we are not existing for her. She said With a very attitude, that’s a big breakfast and she start making horrible face impression She took our order with a very disgusting, judgmental, and hateful attitude and made us very uncomfortable and discriminated against. I will go ahead complaining about this to BBB AND this is not the first time we getting treats from her like this. She is very rude and disrespectful to me and my daughter. I don’t know who’s is the owner there and management. But I’ll find out. And I winy let this go away to be treated by her. I don’t know who she thinks she is. Treating us like this. This...
Read moreWe have been going here for a while now and I was extremely disappointed with the service this time. Food is always great here and atmosphere is very calm and friendly. Our table wasn’t clean, I asked them but nobody came to clean it so I got busy myself with baby wipes. I didn’t want my son touch a dirty table. We ordered the same thing as always, breakfast for two. Normally tables are already set with sugar, salt and pepper. Order started coming then we waited for plates and utensils, didn’t show up. My wife walked up to the counter and got those. Food temperature was a bit low but I didn’t want to say anything since they were busy. Tea hasn’t been brought to the table. We waited for about 10 minutes then asked again for the 3rd time and finally it was brought to the table. Now we are missing glasses for tea. She brought those. Now we are missing sugar and tea spoons. Now we are missing salt shaker and pepper. Now we are missing items off the order. It was a mess. Then one of waiters came to the table to ask IF THERE WAS ANYTHING ELSE WE NEEDED BEFORE SHE GOES BACK. A little standoffish… She came back later to explain that they had an extremely important staff meeting”. It wasn’t our usual waiters, our OG waiter had several tables but as always took the time to come say hi or the guy who took us to our table or the nice girl who came entertained my son and closed our tab: these are your class A employees the rest were a bit off., I love this place…I love the food! Idk why but the guy who took our order seemed a off and little stuck up and thats where...
