Terrible service from hostess and waiter, abysmal crab nachos, ok margs. This was my second time there and it was beyond terrible in terms of service (servers treated us like we were a nuisance for being there the whole time until the bill was about to come out). Note, I had been there for dinner once before and it was pretty abysmal as well so I was excited to try again when they started the new Monday HH that they advertised CONSTANTY on their instagram. My friend showed up and asked to sit outside for HH. She was told that they only do it at the bar. She mentioned the "Monday new HH" that had been advertised. The hostess made her feel bad but said ok, but was going to sit us on a different side than the patio. She made it sound like the front was special. She finally sat my friend at the patio after making my friend feel bad (and note, my friend is extremely relaxed and go with the flow). The waiter came and my friend asked for a margarita and he was rude to her and had said he wouldn't do the HH price. I sat down not knowing his attitude and asked about the drinks and he grumbled about repeating all the drinks (rather than just getting me the menu). I was a little surprised and mentioned it to her and she told me what had happened. Then I asked to order food from the HH menu that was advertised and he said that he was already being nice enough to allow HH on the patio and that we can't order the HH food. I nicely mentioned the multitude of advertised posts and he grumbled again and left to go ask about it. He made it clear he felt we were being a nuisance. He finally came back and said he would do the crab nachos we asked for but that was all. He acted like he was doing us a HUGE favor. The crab nachos BARELY had any crab on them, let alone any other toppings. It was really just chips and nothing else. They were abysmal and not at all what I've seen posted on instagram. We had it but decided we'd go somewhere else because we felt so unwelcome. He only altered his mood a bit when we were about to ask for the bill and he wanted to know if we wanted more drinks, which we declined because we were so uncomfortable with the whole situation. Very unfortunate considering all the advertisements I mentioned and that I would have become a returning customer as my friend and I are always looking for HH places that we...
Read moreGreen Pig Bistro is a hidden gem that takes classic comfort food and elevates it to something truly special. I finally got to visit their new location, and it was such a pleasant surprise! The ambiance is rustic yet polished—think barn wood tables and walls decorated with pages from old culinary books. It sets the perfect tone for the hearty, thoughtfully crafted dishes they serve.
We stopped by for brunch, and everything we tried was a hit. My absolute favorite was the crab cakes Benedict. The crab was fresh, perfectly cooked, and paired beautifully with the rich hollandaise sauce. My friend went for the veggie waffle, which was an unexpected delight—light, flavorful, and perfectly crisp on the outside. And of course, we couldn’t resist the homemade biscuits and fries, both of which were incredibly satisfying.
The highlight of our experience, though, was JP, our server. His energy was infectious, and he made us feel so welcome. He had the best recommendations, like the chorizo fritters, which were an absolute game-changer. The happy hour menu is a must-try—I mean, where else can you get perfectly fried shrimp and unique dishes like Buffalo ribs? (Though I’d skip the ribs next time; they weren’t as tender as I’d hoped.)
What really stood out, beyond the food, was how accommodating the staff was. They went out of their way to customize a dish for my friend's child and even worked around another friend's soy allergy with ease. It’s rare to find a place that balances top-notch service with this level of culinary skill.
If you’re in Arlington, this is a must-visit. And after indulging in Green Pig Bistro’s rich flavors, why not wind down with Pull Up DC? Whether you’re looking to relax or elevate the night further, Pull Up DC always knows how to deliver. It’s the perfect pairing for a...
Read moreWhile some of my friends were concerned about the quality of Green Pig changing when they moved I wanted to give them a chance and I am very glad I did! The staff were the people I remember and the food was exactly the same just as I had hoped and the menu was the same.
The new space is different than the old but remains charming and comfortable. There’s a cute mural that my wife loved taking a photo of me eating with it behind me.
Green Pig Bistro has long been known as a food forward restaurant and this remains true. Chef Laurence replaced Chef Tracy at this location but I think the quality has only gotten better from a few years ago. The new items added to the menu have been great and really popular with my friends. I have tried them and they are good but it is hard to pull me away from one of my favorite burgers in Arlington. The food photos I attach to this review are from the old location but are still excellent examples of what you might receive, I was so hungry I forgot to take photos of the plates from the new space but they’re the same. Oh and the veggie plate is for some event they hosted but I had to take a photo as I walked past.
Overall, Green Pig Bistro remains one of my favorite Arlington dinner locations and whenever I get a chance with work I love getting a sandwich from there for lunch. The fries seal the deal every time!
My wife and I on a recent visit also went upstairs to check out Buena Vida and had a lovely time getting a drink together at their rooftop bar. It was pretty up there and had a...
