We went in and ordered 2 lunch specials: Lemon Chicken with eggdrop and eggroll and Chicken Broccoli with brown gravy, eggdrop and eggroll.
No Pepsi. That was a bit disappointing, so we ordered the tea which was quite decent.
Our soups came out and before I could even start mine, the rest of our ordered had arrived. I didn't want to eat cold lemon chicken, but I really love eggdrop soup so I decided I'd just have to hurry. I worried for nothing.
The eggdrops looked pale and unappetizing. When we tried to add the fried wontons they were hard and dense. I left that issue and when I dripped my spoon into the soup I saw that it was too think. It was gooping off the spoon in large lumps and after ten minutes you could almost stand the spoon in it. I did show that to the waitress who promised to fix the issue for the next time.
The Chicken and broccoli looked great but when my buddy tried it he made a face that promptly told me that he did not approve. The sauce was more like a gravy. It was too thick and maybe had too much bean paste or beef broth or something. But being a man he still ate everything and later that night he paid the price.
The Lemon chicken was good very decent. The crust was surprisingly not pasty but very light and crispy. The chicken was not dry and had a nice light saltiness to it. The lemon sauce was very nice and did not seem too sweet compared to others Asian restaurants I've been too. The eggroll was a bit overdone. It had a slight carbonized taste like you get with toasted marshmallows which I personally thought was nice but probably will still be seen as overcooked by most people.
The fried rice has carrots and peas with a very light soy sauce taste. That's about it as far as I know. I personally like the texture they present. I'm not into the soft boiled feel so that tacky chewy feeling was so good 😊. Overall I thought it was better than most of the Asian restaurants around here.
The waitress was extremely kind and very polite. So was the lady behind the counter.
When we finished eating I spoke to the waitress and since she did promise to fix the issues, I will be returning for a second shot. Besides the lemon...
Read moreThis is a traditional Chinese take out place that has been in Arlington well over two decades, that offers dine in as well. It's a cozy little spot and the portions are very large (a family of 3 to 4 can eat on two selections and some rice or lo mein, easy). That in mind, the prices are very typical of most Chinese food places, not exactly cheap but also not too expensive. Most fares average on your $9-$10 price for a serving that can easily feed 2 or more. Almost everything will come with either steamed rice or fried rice(for a small up-charge) and they offer excellent lunch deals for dine-in only (for $6 you get a large portion with rice, a bowl of either egg drop or sweet and sour soup and an egg roll). The place is always clean, with the bathrooms being the exception to the rule (they could use some serious updating and air freshener), and the staff has always been super friendly and very attentive. The ONLY problem is that take out wait times get to be VERY significant from 5pm on to about 7pm (expect, even a small order, to take a minimum of 20 minutes, if not longer in most cases). They do offer delivery to a small area for an up-charge, but it too is impacted by the same wait times. That being said, the reason for the longer wait is that they have a small kitchen and cook EVERYTHING fresh everytime, and I have never encountered any bad food. The food quality and taste is just average, though. They aren't doing anything here that isn't done in your any of your other Chinese food places, it's just that they have been around several decades and have a very well built clientele that remains faithful to this location. Grab some food from here, you can't go wrong, but if you want fancy you're going to have to step up to places like PF Chang and such, however if traditional is what you want then give...
Read moreI have spoken to the owner after they forgot my food, Lucy. She has advised that I can just get the rice the next day and 2 egg rolls. I come to pick up my order and ask if I can order chicken a la cart to go with my rice and egg roll. The owner has cut me off communication wise to answer phones and take to go orders and go to the back multiple times. Then she did not understand my question and had a server translate. I was advised I could not order a la cart or add extra chicken (ringing up purposes) and would need to order a whole meal and I will have my rice ( meaning I still will not get what I originally paid for but will be purchasing another meal instead for their mistake) I was not going to order another meal. When I explained that the food basically went to waste. She gave me a 5.00 coupon. I was satisfied with that but I of course had to choose if I wanted the rest of my order or the coupon. I do understand small business, but I feel as a returning customer and the inconvenience of driving back ( I live in South Grand prairie, 10 - 15 min drive) I should have gotten the coupon for my gas and time , a long with my food that I didn't receive. I wasn't advised this until I drove to the location. The food is amazing, just their problem solving skills aren't quite there yet. I will still return but they need to allocate someone to help out and maybe they could've came up a way to ring up the chicken another way or be able to sell chicken on the side. I didn't want anything for free just wanted chicken only not a full meal. My meal was...
