Have always heard great things about the Gardens, decided tonight to grab dinner to go. SADLY DISAPPOINTED! We had called to ask if the had popcorn shrimp (were told yes). So ordered a popcorn shrimp and sweet potato fries & chicken strips with sweet potato fries. Burnt fries, NOT popcorn shrimp (it was fantail and all breading)...pictured below....nasty and so not worth $26+ .... (if it would have been just one item we may have gone another time.... however not happening) I do wish them the best and that other customers have better food then we got.

This is a very busy lakefront restaurant. The patio seating outside was full, so we choose a table inside. It’s very loud. Service was ok. We had to go get someone to help us a couple of times, but it is summer and every place is busy in Okoboji on a weekend. You expect a lakefront bar to be hopping so you give some grace. The prices are pretty good. The specialty drinks come in funny-themed take home plastic glasses. The food is bar food: burgers, salads, wraps, wings, and pizzas. Everyone enjoyed their food. There was live music on the patio.

When you think of iconic locales in the Okoboji / Arnold’s Park area - The Gardens is a staple of fun and food and amazing times with friends and family. They have undergone remodeling over the last few years and it is top notch! This visit was just drinks but I have had the food there and it is quite tasty. Drinks were flowing and the live music was ::chefs kiss:: perfection!

Went there for my Bachelorette party last night. It was our first stop so none of us were as abnoxious or rowdy as you would expect from a Bachelorette party. None the less there were 15 of us on a busy night. We promptly went outside and sat down as inside was packed. I got a strawberry daiquiri which I realized was a pre-made mix from a frozen beverage machine. I took a sip and it tasted like plastic. I had a few from my group try it and all agreed. They told me to go ask for a new one and tell her the daquiris tasted off. I was reluctant as I don't like confrontation but went anyway. I told the bartender that I thought the drink tasted off and before I could finish my sentence she was instantly defensive telling me all of them taste the same and it's a pre-made mix. I told her I realized that I just wanted to let you know it tasted off and she said "fine but it's a pre-made mix" due to the reaction I got I just set the drink down and walked away. She did not offer me something else or anything as I was planning to ask for something different anyway. After telling my group this another member promptly walked in and gave her the what for and bought me another drink. It was just a terrible and embarrassing start to what I was hoping to be a great night. Definitely need to work on their...

If my group of 10 could give this place a negative review, we would. There was an open table on the deck which had not been cleared off or pre-bussed whatsoever. After waiting for 20 minutes with no aknowledgement we cleared it ourselves, took the dirty dishes inside ourselves and asked for a wash cloth to wipe down the table. Finally after another 10 minutes our waitress finally came around. Waitress obviously saw us cleaning her table for her, did not apologize and was not friendly. Ordered a vodka lemonade to drink, she brought straight lemonade (charged $5 for drink) then when asked for her to take it back she charged another $5 for the shot. 30 minutes after ordering our food she came back to tell one person they ran out of the item they ordered, food came 45 minutes later (total of 1.5 hours ) Very horrible service, let water run out and never refilled. Also let other drinks run out without checking on us. Didn't check to make sure all our orders were correct after other people delivered our food for her.

*we had drinks and ate appetizers the night prior and everything was awesome. Be aware of who is serving you and how attentive they are off the bat. Will not be returning, will spend $200 somewhere that actually wants...

Having been to The Gardens many times over several years, I must say that this year’s menu and food were quite disappointing. We were able to get a table for 8 outside which was wonderful, since the best thing about the visit was the view. To be fair, we were there on a Saturday and it was very busy. For appetizers, we got onion rings and cheese curds. If you’ve been to the Gardens in the past, they had awesome onion rings with a homemade dip. Now it was your standard onion rings and ranch dressing. These were okay, but we were really looking forward to the rings we had in the past.

We waited at least 35 minutes for our meals. The fish tacos were dry and didn’t have a lot of flavor. The pizza and flatbread pizza had too much sauce and again, not a lot of flavor. The boneless BBQ wings were good...not too many ways you could mess those up, though.

Compared to the menu of last year, this year’s has many less choices...what used to be 3-4 pages of appetizers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, etc., is down to one page.

I would give the food a rating of 2, but the view deserves another point. We used to go to the Gardens often, but honestly, I can’t say that I’d want to go again for a meal...maybe...
