Yesterdays Restaurant — Restaurant in Arnolds Park

We came here for our anniversary dinner. I’ve spent most of my summers coming up to Okoboji. I knew this place existed but never tried it until now. Wish we would have gone to the Okoboji Store instead.

It took about 35 minutes to get our drink order and then ten-fifteen minutes for drinks to arrive. Appetizer arrived about half an hour later. Our entrees came out an hour later and they didn’t bring our salads out all. We had to ask for them twice. First time asked our server who apologized and said she would be right out with them. She walked back in the direction of the kitchen and came back about ten minutes later, hands empty, and went straight to another table, ignoring us. We had to ask the hostess for our salads and a refill. She brought us salads right away and towards the end of our entrees our server finally brought us salads.

The food was ok - it was obvious the potatoes au gratin were baked earlier in the day and reheated in the microwave which is a shame. The asparagus with the salmon was thin and bitter. Five sad tiny limp pieces and less than a spoonful of the dill cream sauce. Salmon was ok but nothing special. My boyfriend’s steak tasted like it was frozen and the inside was ice cold.

The owner Jen was extremely apologetic and took care of our entire meal, which was very nice of her. I had high hopes after reading the reviews but it did not meet expectations. Jen said they were short staffed and our server said they only had two servers on the floor. As a server I am sympathetic to the situation however I noticed a number of things our server could have done to improve her serving skills. When you’re in the weeds like that your hands should always be full running food and bussing. She was disorganized and her timing was bad.

Don't waste your money or your time. Was recommended here by a friend who lived in Boji 5 years ago. Obviously they had much higher standards back then. Decided to take my wife here for her birthday. Upon entering we (wife and I) were greeted and seated by a nice young lady. After sitting there for 15 minutes a waitress finally showed up to take our drink order. It was not busy in there by any means. There was a little red head waitress that ran circles around our waitress. My wife ordered some pink frilly thing and it was so strong she couldn't even drink it. I like stiff drinks and i couldn't even finish it,(Straight Vodka) basically. After another 10 minutes or so our waitress finally came to take our order. As we sat here waiting for our meal we had PLENTY of time to view our surroundings. I noticed the gentleman in the booth next to us had ordered the alfredo which was the same thing i ordered. It looked very dry but was a nice portion. This was no small dude that would eat like a bird but he only took about 2 bites of it. Once they left i heard the bus boy express his concerns to the hostess as to weather or not they left because he didn't even touch his meal. Once we finally received our meal, a little over an hour later. I could see why he didn't eat his alfredo. Mine looked like a clump of dry noodles with 5 shrimp on top. Where's the alfredo sauce people? I would have complained but after sitting there over an hour i was not waiting any longer. I ate a little bit of mine and was over it and it was warm at best. Got a to go container so i could take it home and doctor it up and make it edible. My wife got the chicken parmesan and said it was just ok at best. UPDATED,9-9-2022 Unfortunately Yesterday's food quality/service has declined to an unacceptable level. We have dined here twice over the past 3 weeks and have encountered significant issues both times ranging from wait staff forgetting to enter food orders to serving partially prepared raw food or cold food. Granted our party numbered 12, but 6 of the 12 had issues over the nearly 2 ,1/5 hours we were seated. Upon leaving we encountered several patrons waiting approximately 2,+ hours for food. Sorry Jen, we won't be back. You have a charming personality but it can't cover up nsd good and service.

Dined Aug. 24, 2019 at Yesterday's in Arnold's Park. Having dined here several times prior and experiencing very good service and food, we were anxious to dine again. Unfortunately our experience this night was sub-par compared to other visits. Of our three entree's, two were passable, not great, and the third, Shrimp Scampi, was served cold and had to be sent back for re-heating which our waitress promptly did.
