Wow, this is the spot for authentic Korean dishes and environment.
Parking: They’re located in a small plaza. Finding a spot is difficult. Highly recommend backing into a spot if you can.
Ambiance/Environment: It’s located in the corner. It doesn’t look like much outside, but once you walk in, it’s really nice and clean. They have a medium sized space with a good amount of indoor seating. I love their tables bc there’s a hidden drawer filled with utensils & napkins.
Service: One female server assisted us. She didn’t mention her name, but she was courteous, quick, & efficient! There was a language barrier, but she knows enough to get by. You’d order via the tablet and pay at the end.
Food:
Hinoki - This was larger than I thought! The brisket and veggies came in a Hinoki wood cooked on top of a portable butane stove. Everything inside was cooked well done. Make sure to dip this in their sauce! I paired this with white rice. It was sooo delicious!
Grilled large intestines and abomasum - Aka daechang and makchang in Korean. This was one of their new dishes. It was also cooked on top of a portable butane stove with a generous amount of bell peppers, onions, & garlic. The intestines were not too chewy and had lots of flavor.
Spicy Soondae Soup - Soondae is Korean blood sausage. It was cooked well but could use a bit more Soondae. It also contained other veggies. The soup was sooo good! It actually wasn’t too spicy.
Pricing: It is on the pricier end, but trust me when I say it’s worth it. We enjoyed our...
Read moreMy new favorite Korean restaurant! I visited for the first time last week for dinner and loved it so much that I came back again for lunch with friends this week. Highly recommend the Spicy Braised Beef Short Rib, and the Hinoki - Brisket with Veggies. Last time I visited, I tried the Sweet Braised Beef Short Rib. Both the spicy and sweet ones are incredible, but because I'm a fan of spice, my favorite is the spicy one! I really loved the flavor of the Braised Beef Short Rib. The meat was nice and tender, and the flavors of the meat, rice cakes, and mushrooms were unbeatable. Also love all the side dishes here.
It's not your everyday Korean restaurant. They have unique dishes and the presentation of the food here is stunning. In addition, the service is amazing. The server checked in on the meat (for the Hinoki - Brisket with Veggies) and let us know when it was ready to eat. He was also great about checking in and making sure we had everything we needed the whole time, including water.
Such an amazing Korean restaurant! I'll definitely be...
Read moreMoobongri Soondae is such an underrated spot! This gem is one of my favorite traditional authentic Korean restaurants I've been to. Known for their soondae, grilled intestines, braised beef short ribs and Hinoki steamed meat, I can see this place being really popular!
The Hinoki steamed brisket and pork belly is prepared in the kitchen and then brought out in a cypress wood steamer to be cooked a bit more at the table. The braised beef short ribs was tender and rich in flavor, making the overall dish so good!
I love the cleanliness of the restaurant, new and modern. The location shares a small parking lot with other restaurants but there are close parking spots on the street as well. Service here was amazing, super friendly and attentive. While enjoying my dinner, the staff kept checking up to make sure the brisket was getting cooked properly in the Hinoki steamer.
I'll have to come back for the grilled intestines...
