You naughty pirate! Where'd you hide that booty?
Pirates Kitchen is a seafood boil restaurant, open late. Having never been before, late night cravings called for a first time visit.
Tacos (4 for $9, w/ chips & guacamole)- Can't pass this deal up! 4 tacos (choice of shrimp, carne asada or fish. Cannot mix & match), chips & guacamole. Perfect way to fill up on the cheap. The tacos were amply filled with the desired protein & pico de gallo. Good stuff!.
1 lb shrimp (medium Full House)- Customers can have shrimp head-on or headless & peeled. Although, why would anyone pass up on all the head brains & fat is beyond me. Full House is a combination of all the sauces (garlic butter, lemon pepper & PK sauce). Medium was just the right amount of heat. Each shrimp was large, tender & great tasting.
Service was good. The wait wasn't long, and the attendant came by to check a few times. Ample seating, the interior has a pirate/ocean motif. Parking is via a shared lot. Pirates Kitchen is located at the Artesia City Plaza, located on the left of La Tavolata.
They had me at tacos. Pirates Kitchen is a great local late night food option. Their tacos are hard to pass up, and I'm already craving more. Their shrimp boil is no slouch, either. Pirates Kitchen has added itself on my rotation list for...
Read moreBeen here a few times but this last time on Monday 1/8 we all got food poisoning. Also noticed that the Asian kid workers refuse to clean tables or do much of anything. Instead they wait for the Mexican worker to come out from the kitchen and clean the tables. Pretty bad considering he seems to be the cook and also runs food out to tables. Waited 15 minutes for a table that was open before we got there because they would rather talk to eachother instead of throw away the wax paper on top and put a new one. It's literally set up for easy clean up but instead we all have to get sick because they want the same guy who cooks to also clean while they do nothing. Took 40 minutes for the Asian "waiter" to bring out french fries. Tried claiming they're "made in a different station" but then suddenly they were already done. Disgusting third world standards and will not return after 3 of us all missed 3 days of work. Can only imagine what goes on in the back here. Do...
Read morePirates kitchen has a deal! Two pounds of head on shrimp for $20! Special from 11:30am - 3pm daily. Other specials include $1 soju shots (max 6pp) and $3 beers!
They also have some amazing boil combos like the one I chose the PK Platter which included a choice of three ( shrimp, crawfish, muscles and/or clams), Cajun fries, whole grilled sausage, two pieces of corn and garlic bread. It’s quite a delicious feast!
If you don’t see a special you like you can choose a custom seafood boil including protein choices, sauces and add ons. As always the spice level is your choice.
If seafood boils aren’t your thing they have a full menu of other items. We enjoyed chicken wings, fried oysters, elote and jambalaya pasta! So many choices!
The restaurant decor is fun and they have a large bar. Everything looks clean and tidy. The service is efficient and friendly. All in all a...
