We found Das Meyer as they were recommended by our day of coordinator, as well as constant recommendations from a bride group on Facebook. We went in for a tasting in their reception space next to their bakery. We were warmly greeted and given a detailed information sheet with cake sizes, prices, and flavors. We were given 13 flavors to try! They encouraged us to take as much time as we needed, and if we wanted to try any flavors a second time they could do that for us as well to help narrow down. We brought our own cake stand (a log/stump) and they measured it and were able to tell us which size of tiered cake would be able to fit on that. We chose three flavors: Triple chocolate, Triple White, and Lemon poppy seed with strawberry filling. Once we had our decision we went next door to the bakery to place our order. We were greeted warmly here as well and we sat at a table and Rachael came over to help us. Rachael was so kind, caring, and patient. She answered all of our questions, and walked us through everything very thoroughly. She was able to capture our vision for the cake and even showed us around the show room to give us a vision of how certain elements of our cake would look. As we were sitting at the table, one of the workers was decorating a cake that was extremely close to our vision, we were so lucky that Rachael was able to capture the details of that cake as well in our order. She was willing to take as much time as we needed to discuss details of the cake. I really felt that they were invested in me as a bride and us as a couple to make sure we had everything we envisioned for our big day. This place is absolutely amazing with what they can do. Any vision that you have, they can achieve it. They even have things you can rent for your cake, or you are also welcome to bring in your own non edible items to include as well. They have loads of flavors, loads of shapes and sizes, and loads of options, not mention that their cake is fluffy and delicious! This place is also family owned which makes it that much more intimate and special. Be aware that while the pricing for the cake is very reasonable and in our budget, know that there are more charges than just the cake. There are extra charges for decorative costs, and delivery and set up. You don’t have to do delivery and set up, however it does make everyone’s life a lot easier since they know what they are doing and your cake is in good hands. Also know that if your cake is stacked/needs support, you have to put down a deposit for things that aren’t optional like the cake stand itself and the pillars for extra support within the cake. You just have to remember to clean them and then return them to the bakery in order to not be charged. Also note that they only take cash and check. When the final invoice came through, it was a little more expensive than what we intended, but we knew the cake would be high quality and what we wanted. On the day of when the cake arrived, we were BLOWN AWAY. It was better than anything we had ever envisioned! We received so many compliments on how beautiful the cake was. It was absolutely stunning and perfect and everything we wanted exactly how we wanted. Once we saw the cake, it was worth it. We received many compliments on how beautiful and delicious the cake was. The chocolate slices were gone in just a few minutes! The lemon poppy seed was so refreshing for our July wedding. The triple white was so light and airy. Every call and every interaction with Das Meyer and its employees well exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend this bakery to any bride with any vision. They are high quality and invested in you, all within my budget. We were so delighted with how the cake turned out, and tasted too! The cake really pulled together our theme and vision for...
Read moreI’m an “encore” bride (i.e. this is my second marriage), and literally the only vendor whose name I remember from my first wedding is Das Meyer because they were THAT good. Because I wanted everything to be different this time around, I planned to choose a different bakery, so I researched and visited 5 different highly recommended cake vendors, but none held a candle to the deliciousness that remained engrained in my memory from 12 years ago. I sucked it up and looked Das Meyer up again online, and knew I had to go back. My fiancé and I ventured in yesterday for their Saturday morning tasting, and it immediately became apparent why I remembered them so well, and I knew that they would be part of my second (and last!) wedding! This little bakery is the cutest, most inviting place. There were quite a few people there just enjoying a morning pastry and coffee. Since we were early for the tasting, we decided to do the same and began with savory croissants. SO wonderful! Mine had ham, Swiss, and mushrooms, and it was ridiculously good! While we ate our pre-cake snacks, the wonderful staff (all part of the Meyer family as this is a family owned business, which I love), were attentive, informative, and kind. We paged through books and iPad photos (be sure to ask to see those as they seem to be newer pics) and admired the amazing designs, each depicting nuptial desserts that were really pieces of art. Then the cake came- 18 incredibly moist, creative flavors of baked perfection. My only complaint is how hard it is to eliminate flavors! While it was hard work, my fiancé and I narrowed it down to just 3. Picking our design was the easy part- while each of the cakes we saw pictures of were wonderful, the very unique mountain scene we selected will fit our rustic Colorado wedding perfectly, and it’s SO different then anything we’ve seen elsewhere. It’s also apparent that they’ll make a design uniquely for you; if you can dream it, they can make it. Here’s another really special part of Das Meyer that sets them apart from other bakeries and wedding vendors as a whole- they don’t require money up front or even a signed contract to hold your date- there’s no pressure, and it’s SO refreshing after all the pressure that vendors put on brides! In my opinion, no other bakery in the city of Denver comes close to the quality of Das Meyer in EVERY aspect- taste, service, price, etc. I will forever be a loyal customer of Das Meyer and will return for all cakes for any and every special occasion from...
Read moreDas Meyer made our wedding cake and desserts for our wedding (hosted in Buena Vista - we transported everything ourselves from Arvada). They were recommended to us from another couple that had recently gotten married so we already came into the experience with trusted friends' endorsements.
First I'll talk about the tasting. We called and scheduled a wedding tasting and I believe tried 12 out of 15 flavors (they have more flavors available, but that was what they had for sampling that day). They were all so good! I definitely intend to order cakes from them in the future. We ultimately settled on the orange blossom. We also got a lot of other assorted desserts (including GF options!) for a dessert table in addition to the cake. We had a three tiered cake with a beautiful white design. We made a custom cake topper. They have a really extensive portfolio of designs that we were able to review and get inspiration from. In one of their prior cakes they made peacock feather patterns out of either marzapan or fondant that were really stunning. We are big nerds and our cake topper was the two of us fighting a dragon (inspired by D&D).
What we received was a stunning cake that tasted delicious. They made dragon scales that wrapped around the cake, and were incorporated on the other desserts as well. It was the first part of our wedding weekend that caught me off guard (in the best way possible). It turned out so much more stunning than I could have imagined. I will have to come back to post pictures once I get our photos back from our photographer. We cut our cake with a sword to really tie into the theme :) .
As far as logistics - they were so very easy to work with, professional, and all of their desserts were delicious and perfect for what we needed. Neither of us are big chocolate fans, so our cake was orange blossom, we had key lime pie bars, petit fours, and cheesecake bars (as well as some chocolate sins for the chocolate lovers at our party). The desserts vanished, they were so good and all of our guests loved them.
They were very good at communicating throughout the process, brainstorming creative ideas, curating a menu, working with our budget. They helped us with figuring out how to transport the cake (we actually bought a bunch of dry ice to preserve the cake). Now I will be the one recommending them to the next couple I meet (as well as swing by for pastries myself every once...
