My boyfriend surprised me with hibachi tonight. The food was delicious, but I felt like we got the short stick in terms of chefs. Hibachi is expensive not because of rice or vegetables, but because of the experience. When we came in the door, the host started yelling across the room to the different servers about where to seat us and they had a conversation from across the room yelling (I have anxiety so I can get overwhelmed by things like this mixed with the crowd and already loud background noise…heads up to anyone sound sensitive). When they sat us we were with a group of 5 celebrating a birthday. The chef came out and when he did the sake bottle he went through the whole table. My bf declined because he’s sober but I was excited to try! To my surprise, he turned around and grabbed a bottle of apple juice and announced I could have “baby sake”. I’m turning 28 this month. I have a nose ring and boobs…I don’t think I look that young. Apparently neither did the birthday group because one of them said oh what was that? I told her apple juice and that I’m 28 so she yelled to the chef hey give her some she’s 28 and I raised my voice a little to say the same (not rudely trust me I’m a service industry lifer) but he ignored us. It’s possible he didn’t hear, but later (maybe out of spite a little) I decided to order a cocktail from the waiter. The chef brought back the sake and skipped me (again) and the lady from the birthday spoke up for me again (they were such a fun group I hope to have friends like that one day). He was hesitant until I pointed to my cocktail and he did apologize, but it was just embarrassing and really uncomfortable for me to have to advocate for myself in a loud anxiety inducing location when I just wanted to participate equally. I gave 3 stars because the food and atmosphere were good. The other chefs looked a lot more fun and interactive than ours. He also forgot to tell the server about her birthday so they had to mention it to the server when he brought the checks out. Overall it was pretty hectic and didn’t turn out to be as relaxing as I would have liked. I do think the prices are fair for the food and experience quality though. I can’t dox the whole restaurant...
Read moreHonestly don’t think I’ll come back to this location. Thinking I will make the extra drive down to the Denver location. Although I walked into the Arvada location thinking it would be nicer (as the inside appears nicer than the location in Denver) the rest of my experience was very subpar or even upsetting. The waitstaff to start was extremely rude. The waiter we had came over to take our drink order and noticed we were on a certain page of the menu. He ripped the menu from my hands turned it to the right page and slammed it back down on the table saying “this page only!!” Just seemed extremely rude and disrespectful. Could have simply said “hey sir the menu is on the other page. Here let me show you” or something along those lines. The waiter also rolled his eyes at me when I asked for a substitution THAT I ALWAYS GET AT THE DENVER LOCATION and yelled “there’s no substitutions” at that moment is when I just wanted to get my food and leave. We paid the same price as the dinner even though it was lunch (I realize it was Sunday and they do not offer lunch combos on Sunday) and I wasn’t to upset at first about paying for a dinner combo. What became upsetting in the portions I received were about HALF of what I get at the Denver location. Everyone at my table could tell the cook was having a hard time dividing up the food between the people around the table. It was almost as if he came out with not enough food or he came out with the quantity they serve at lunch. The second option felt more what was happening but again I PAID FOR DINNER. I also ordered an extra side of fried rice of which I never received. The waiter attempted to charge me for it and when I kindly told him I didn’t get that extra side of rice and would they be able to remove it he asked me two separate times to clarify like I was lying or something. The food wasn’t horrible at all and the place was extremely clean so I will give the restaurant that. I just stand by my original comment that I’ll just visit the Denver location. At least there the waitstaff appear to care about the customers and there are actually decent portion sizes like any other...
Read moreHad a reservation for 7:15 the other day, I came in around 5 minutes before the reservation to confirm we were there, stood at the host stand for maybe ten minutes and went away to find an employee to check in for my reservation, the employee I found told me to simply wait by the host stand, came back and the employee who finally showed up ignored me for a minute or two until I managed to get her attention. She looked at our reservation and said it would be another 30-35 minutes, okay whatever especially for a busy night, I get it. 30 minutes go by and people that came into the restaurant after us were being seated before us, we asked the host what the heck was going on and she told us it would be another 30 minute wait. Completely ridiculous and we told her so, she wouldn't even respond and didn't even look at us so another employee helped us out and sat us immediately. One of the members in my party has allergies (gluten and shellfish) so their food was made separate, the chef forgot about this towards the end of the order and put food on her plate that she couldn't eat, which wasn't the biggest deal since nothing else was on the plate but it's a matter of principle. To top it off the first part of that person's food was given to the wrong guest, and towards the end they completely didn't give her anything until nearly after we had all eaten because it was forgotten about.
Will absolutely not be returning, from someone who works in the service industry I found the staff to be nearly hostile, and I would absolutely avoid eating here if you have allergies to certain food. The drive to the Orchard location or any other Hibachi place is...
