Came in wearing a mask and literally nobody was wearing a mask so I took mine off. Then this man came out of the shadows and aggressively told me to put my mask on in the rudest manner you can imagine. I then ordered my non-alcoholic beverage since I don't drink alcohol and sat down. My friend had been on the phone so he entered after all of this happened and the exact same man yelled at my friend and threatened him. This was shocking and we were so confused because it's not like we refused to wear the mask. Like I said literally nobody inside was wearing masks, yet we were the only two yelled at. I also noticed that I was the only person of color in the establishment. I mean I did not expect this in Asheville. Perhaps the man behind the counter is uncomfortable with foreigners/people of color and lashes out like this? This experience was a stain on my otherwise amazing visit to the progressive city...

Came into this “family friendly” establishment with my wife, son and my sons girlfriend after reading mostly positive reviews. Being from out of town, all we had was reviewed to use as our guide. We walked into the place, were guided to a table, tossed a menu to review and had the ordering process outlined to us. No real problem so far as COVID-19 has created the need apparently to have minimal verbal and physical contact and the need to read the extremely short description of each beer without description from a wait staff. The real issue came from the “music” pumped through the system. Five straight hip hop songs with lots of F bombs and the oh so despised N word. Not very family friendly by my book anyway. First and last time visitors.

Ps look up lyrics for Rough Rider by DMX and see if you want your kids to learn this one, it was one of...

Finally got to check out Archetype in West Asheville.

This brewery at the "end" of Haywood Road where it turns left to go down to the river and the River Arts District is quite an operation. They must have spent some money to build out the space, which has the brewery vats and such, a big indoor space and two outdoor patios.

It doesn't serve food, but you're encouraged to bring your eats from the nearby Pizza Mind, Gan Shan Station West, The OWL and other restaurants in this increasingly busy part of West Asheville.

I had a coffee porter, made with Mountain City Coffee Roasters' Last Dance cold brew coffee. This is one porter with a distinctive coffee taste. There are 15 or so other craft beers on tap.

Nice place, and another good addition to the booming West...

Having had Archetype brewing on draft before we were excited to finally go to the brewery. The day we came to visit we also had the special treat of seeing their partnership in action with Mountain Pet Rescue. They have pets for adoption I believe twice a month at the brewery right on-site. What a great thing!!! Ok so for the brewery itself they had outdoor patio seating on the first level and a nice rooftop area for those sunny days. Inside plenty of seating and a great bar area. The brews were definitely on point and we enjoyed the variety. The group favorites were the Unruly Mystic coffee porter, Talking to Plants witbier, and also the collaboration with Cellarest Haywood Gold Rush grisette. Cool spot worth checking out and great staff! Cheers!!

Fun Beers and cool Place in west Asheville. Bartenders are not nice. They asked us to wear masks while we are at our table drinking beers. It was my understanding if youre at the table actively drinking you didn’t have to wear a mask. No covid Common sense at this place. And there was no reason for the bartender to yell at us from across the room. The situation could have been handled better. Here’s a suggestion on being friendly to customers... walk up to them and ask them politely to do something as opposed to trying to publicly shame them.

Nice brewery with different areas to sit. We had to keep moving cause families with little kids came in. I go to a brewery to relax and little bumpkins aren’t relaxing. I’ve raised three so I know. I knew reading the reviews families congregate here, but I was hoping Monday might be more of a chill day. We were going to get a second beer but it started to feel like a day care. Obviously this works for families. Just not my cup of beer. My session beer was tasty. We brought our pizza over from next door to enjoy with our beers.
