Adorable little cafe with the windows open, tiny dancers, and tables full of friends. We both got drip with steamed cream. The coffee is excellent and the service was warm and authentic.

We also got an everything danish - that’s the real reason for this review. My coffee has to be great, I can’t hang with hotel coffee. So today we ventured out and found Cooperative. But when I find an unexpected gem like exceptional pastries with it? Day made. The ET danish is the mostly perfectly fluffy and buttery croissant. The crunchiness of puff pastry, density of a danish. It was salty, savory, and one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth. I wish they had had two. But then, we wouldn’t have tried the cardamom morning bun. There simply is nothing bad to say about this company as far as I can tell. The coffee is phenomenal, probably my favorite in Asheville. Smooth, full-flavored, well balanced. They have a subscription program that can be customized to fit any set of needs in terms of variety and frequency at a super reasonable price for small-batch, freshly roasted beans, and they offer local delivery. I get the "roaster's choice" subscription, because I like to switch up my coffee regularly, and I have yet to be anything short of delighted. I don't know the family that runs Cooperative Coffee, but I have met them once at an event, and emailed with them one other time regarding a customer service issue. Love love love Cooperative Coffee! I’ve worked in the coffee industry since I was 15, and I’m now 33, and have tried coffee from and all over the world. I have deep respect for roasters that get their beans from farms that treat their employees well, and that take roasting so seriously so the coffee experience is incredible (as it should be!). I get my beans from Earth Fare but will consider a subscription to make 2021 easier- a goal of mine! I’m also recently caffeine-free, and recently tried their Sweet Dreams decaf and LOVE IT!
