Kota Kai is such an amazing coffee shop experience. The atmosphere is top-notch since the remodel and rebrand. It feels like an adventure inside a building. Their beans are organized on the walls by region of the world they come from. The decor rides a beautiful line between luxury and rustic. The back seating area feels like a canvas tent basecamp to a wilderness adventure. The coffee is phenomenal. I’ve had both a latte and a brewed coffee, and both made a wonderful impression. This is a must-try for any coffee enthusiast. We stepped in expecting a cafe, but what we got was so much more. This is the closest thing to a "coffee library" that I have experienced. The walls are lined with vials of coffee beans organized by region, and detailed with notes of each roast. We enjoyed talking details with the staff (shout out to Tim!) and got to try some samples before we bought beans.

Josh the barista was phenomenal! Although the service is wonderful I’m not real keen on the direction that the shop is taking. How can employees make tips if the customer has to do all the work, get the beans get the bags, etc?. what is the service you’re providing? I’m all about tipping, but if I’m doing the work, I can’t justify tipping the employees. Employees rely on tips for the service that they are giving .
