I got my hair cut today in a shop in the same little strip mall on Henerson Rd. I saw this restaurant, and because it was lunchtime, and I love Thai food, I thought I would stop for lunch. This is just a day after AVL finally got potable water back into the system. I tell you this because I discovered that this restaurant just opened for the first time yesterday, and I'm the first one to review it. I selected 2 apps from the menu: the cream cheese crab wontons and the shrimp lettuce wraps. The wontons were exactly as I expected. They were just a little crispy on the outside without being overcooked. These were accompanied with an orange sauce. The lettuce wraps were also delicious, with a shrimp, a peanut, crispy noodles and other stuff in the middle, and a slightly hot, sesame oil sauce to spoon on each wrap. They also offer many vegetarian dishes. Wonderful food, very welcoming owners and a pleasant decor rounded out my experience. They are a brand new restaurant in town and worthy of your patronage. I would highly recommend this place! I'll be back again after my...
Read moreI really loved the food here. I'm a vegetarian. I had the Pad See Eew and Massaman Curry. I split the dishes with my boyfriend. The server with super nice and brought us extra plates. The food was excellent. The Pad see eew noodles were cooked Divine and I loved the tofu. it was so crispy on the outside. I don't know where they get their tofu but I loved the taste. If you're into tofu. The massaman had a great sauce. Next time I think I will ask for no peanuts. This is a preference thing. It certainly did not ruin the dish for me and my boyfriend thought they tasted great. I'm just used to having the dish without them. This restaurant has a nice bright atmosphere. I would say it is casual. We were there for an early dinner and it wasn't slammed on a Friday night but started to get a little bit busier around 7:30. I don't think you need to make reservations at this point. Things may...
Read moreThis was our second time ordering takeout from Sawasdee. We read some great reviews online and decided to give them a try. We have had a hard time finding great Thai food in Asheville, but this is it! Our favorite is the Massaman Curry which we have tried with both beef and chicken (beef is probably our preference for this one). We also enjoy their Green Curry and Stir Fry Basil Chicken (I forget the Thai name for that). Their spring rolls are also great with a nice sauce that is not too sugary. Entrees can be ordered with spice level from 0 to 5 or “Thai hot.” We did 3 the first time just to be safe, and then upped it to 4 on the second visit. 4 is tasty spicy without blowing your head off. The woman at the front counter (I need to learn her name…) was very friendly both times. It looks like the restaurant is run by a family. We wish them much success, and we’ll...
