I have 5 stars for the server and the cook ONLY. The company can sit on it.
I was very disappointed with WAFFLE HOUSE on that night and a few other nights. I frequent this restaurant because I work late. And they seem to be the best in asheville, at least in my opinion. I've never had a bad meal or visit in the 6 years I've been dining there.
However... It was embarrassing how short-staffed at such a high volume store (late-night) it was. But the server and cook made sure everyone was squared away. I felt bad for her because she had no one there on a Saturday night to help. I tipped her out $20 on a $6 tab because she had it so hard. Food was great and she kept a smile. But I could see her tiredness.
As a Chef I could NEVER allow my employees to work under those conditions. I would close the store early if I knew my under-Chefs were too short-handed to operate. Customers cannot get good service when the personnel is not there to give them that service. Again, I commend the server and the cook. They worked hard.. very hard that night. I was tempted to clean tables for them. Next time I come in that store and I'll see you at, I will. No reason for them to go through what they went through.
The situation I witnessed is how you lose hard workers and put pressure on those that stay while having low morale.
Waffle House makes enough money to close early at night when you have no one there to work. No reason for...
Read more10/28/24 9:10pm. My coworker and I came here to eat on Monday night at 9:10pm. It wasn’t busy, and it took awhile just for the waitress to take our order (that’s the least of the problems we had). When our food was brought out, some of my food was on my coworkers plate and visa versa. No big deal, she brought it back, switched things around, and when she brought my food back, I had a freezing cold piece of cheese on top of my eggs. I asked for scrambled with cheese, but placing a cold piece of cheese on top? During all this commotion I noticed the cook that was preparing our food was leaving. It seemed like he was going home no matter what, and at the last minute of his shift, he just reached in the refrigerator, took a slice of cheese, and threw it on top of my eggs. The waitress asked me if everything was ok, and I said “no, my eggs are not even cooked” She took it back, and when it came back maybe 20 seconds later, the cheese was just barely melted on top. This was the laziest cook from a Waffle House that I’ve ever experienced. Other things were wrong with both our meals as well. Supposed to have cheese in hash browns, didn’t ask for onions in hash browns, and they brought out other food we didn’t order. I’m 41 years old and have been coming to Waffle House for decades. This is by far the worst experience...
