Captain D's — Restaurant in Ashland

Not good at all, I love Captain D's and I was very disappointed, because We always went to the Captain D's in Short Pump, Glen Allen, Va and They sold the place to a PitBBQ place they are good but I really prefer Captain D's and so we went to Ashland, for a Dr. appt and I was so excited to eat lunch there because it had been so long and My husband and I always order Deluxe Seafood fried platter w/bake potatoe and coleslaw and deviled crab cakes Husspuppys ,so we began to eat and I took a bite of fish and it was ok but mussy not crispy like it usual is and then my husband said have you tasted the crab yet ,so I said not yet, so he said try it so I did I mean nasty and I mean nasty, it was soaked in oil I went to the bathroom and got sick and I wanted to tell them, but anyway my husband wouldn't let me, he said, that if they remade our meal someone would spit in it or do something to it he just like that funny but he wouldn't let me say anything but I was very very very disappointed especially when you come from a weasel all the way there and excited to eat something and it tastes totally different but when we got there the girl was mopping the floor with bleach and it was so strong that everyone was complaining it was messing up and I guess they're their launch but she kept on and the bathroom the women's bathroom the floor when I walked in with saturated with water coming out of it the handicap toilet they were renovating the dining room to man that was painting had paint stuff all over the floor while he was sitting in the dude eating hamburger can...

As a former employee to this resturant, I learned a lot about eating out. & no my review isn't because I'm a bitter ex employee, I left on my own terms once I realized how much of a horrible place this is to work. For starters, don't eat here. None of the "cooks" wear gloves when preparing your food. There are selected deep fryers for certain types of fish but that doesn't matter to them, it's always mixed up. So much for the people with certain allergies. Nothing is fresh. It all comes frozen and is microwaved. The biggest issue I have with this places is, they drop food on the floor and pick it back up & continue to use it. I witnessed the management pick a piece of the battered fish (before it was battered) from the floor that had been on the floor long enough to thaw out, place it back inside the freezer & reuse it. Also the manager told several employees to get the fish out of the trash cans & use it. His words were "that's my food cost & it's still good". Not to mention shrimp is dropped while being prepped and still used. His logic is "the oil is hot enough to kill the germs". Just disgusting. They don't care about their customers at all. Stay away from this place. I can't speak on other Captain D's but this one is horrible. All OSHA & the local health department needs to do, is watch the cameras & this place would...

The food was pretty good I can't complain there . Service definitely could use some improvement. The man taking our order was rushing thru the order and in doing so took off parts of our order, forgot our cheesecake ( he did catch it and yelled for us to come back thankfully) never put the strawberry sauce in the bag. We had a pretty big order ( almost $100) and were very aware that we would probably need to be parked but weren't. Some of these minor mistakes could have been prevented by parking us and taking your time to get the order together, which would have been completely understandable, my mother and I both work in restaurant settings and would have completely underst

July 22,2023 We went back recently, the food was absolutely delicious, hot, fresh and not greasy. The staff was kind and helpful and worked as a team to get orders out. The funnel cake sticks are to die for 😋 absolutely delicious with or without the strawberry sauce and I love ice I can eat ice for breakfast lunch and dinner and they have the best ice for their drinks hands down.
