We went here to get some wings, fries and a few beers for dinner. When we walked in, the menus were different, things seemed painted, etc. All good, right? We got 12 wings each (I know they’re a bit pricey right now), 2 beers each, basket of fries, and an appetizer. Pretty much the usual. Anyways, we have been here and have done this same exact meal, and with the price of wings there days, we know we were going to spend $60 or so. I get the bill - $74. A bit steep, sure. Oh well. So I give our waitress my card and it comes back - $78. Right there on the bottom, the fine print, it says that you are charged 3.5% for cards. All said, I walked out of there for $94 for two people. Insane.
Here’s the thing- First off, the prices are insane for fried bar food. It’s good, but not $100 good. Secondly, I know that point-of-sale businesses that do this volume are usually charged approximately 2.25% on card transactions. What’s the other 1.25% going to? It’s not fine dining. And I guarantee that they don’t pass that along to the staff. There are usually 30% margins on food in the industry for the rest of the expenses and profits. Although inflation is pressuring the industry, it’s not over 80% more. Those costs are normally absorbed by the overhead. Anyways- It’s simply a cash grab of a few hundred dollars a month for the owners, even with newly elevated food prices. Thirdly, I have also read that there are new owners and/or management. It’s not the same place we really enjoyed coming to, which is a shame because their wings are great.
I am giving this review two stars instead of one because our waitress Meghan was awesome. She provided great service and was super helpful. But this review is also getting two stars because we won’t be going back because I already have a mortgage on my house and I don’t need another for some wings and beer.
Upside: Beer is cheap. Food is tasty.
Downside: Bring $45 per person if you’re eating and grabbing a beer. And expect an upcharge if you live outside of the Stone Age, don’t have a small bag with gold dust and use a...
Read moreOverall Rating: 6.6/10 This local bar offers a laid-back atmosphere, complete with a canopy for outdoor dining, and a sports-friendly environment with numerous TVs and spacious seating. While clean, the presence of flies inside was noticeable.
Atmosphere: 6.6/10 The setting is relaxed and typical of a local bar, enhanced by good food and a vibrant sports atmosphere. The cleanliness is commendable, though the indoor flies detract slightly from the comfort.
Service: 5.1/10 Service was efficient with timely food delivery and correct orders, although there was an oversight with napkins. Water refills were attentive.
Bacon Cheeseburger: 6.5/10 A solid choice, featuring a high-quality patty that was cooked to perfection, accompanied by fresh vegetables and crispy bacon, all encased in a tasty bun.
Mac n Cheese: 1.2/10 Disappointingly, this was a basic Kraft Mac n Cheese, which did not live up to dining expectations and felt out of place in the restaurant setting.
Fish n Chips: 6.3/10 While the portion was on the smaller side, the quality was high. The chips were homemade and notably good, albeit a bit salty, complementing the well-cooked, tasty fish.
Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich: 6.9/10 An excellent dish with a flavorful profile; the chicken was crispy, the ham delectable, and the fresh vegetables added a nice crunch, making it a standout menu item.
Value: 5.9/10 While the overall experience and food quality were satisfactory, the value was slightly diminished by the basic Mac n Cheese. Nonetheless, the pricing is fair, considering the quality of most dishes and the enjoyable...
Read moreWas passing through town for the night and needed a place to eat. Sign on the door says open until 11. After our food arrived (quickly) we were told the kitchen would be closing. It was 9:30. We said we didn’t want more food but would want another drink. No problem, the bar is still open she said. Five minutes later the waitress came back to say the bar had already done last call and although she knew we wanted another drink there was nothing she could do. I had ordered a cup of soup before we ordered our sandwiches. When I looked at the menu after ordering the soup, I saw you could get the soup for a $2 up charge instead of the fries. Since they were not ordered together the waitress said she could not change the ticket but not to worry because the includes fries were “free.” I did not enjoy my sloppy joe wrap. It had a bbq flavoring to the sauce that just didn’t seem right for that sandwich. I did enjoy the soup and my husband did like his philly cheesesteak. Our waitress Abby was very sweet and apologetic about the bar situation. By 9:45 chairs were being put up on tables and the floor being mopped with a strong cleanser smell. When our table was cleared the young lady who sat us commented to our waitress that she’d be in the kitchen...
