This was the second of what was going to become a regular visit. Sadly, they’ve lost my business.
The food was fine, but some very simple requests were met with disdain and an attitude that runs completely contrary to the purported “pleasing you is what we do best” mantra on the entry way overhang.
Old world charm can only get you so far in the modern era and Cheri O’s own ownership is ultimately the reason why this place needs to go the way of the Edsel and the Oldsmobile and allow for younger and more pleasant folks to take over.
Whilst in today we watched the owner scold a would be patron for carrying a coffee cup (it’s 2023, people do this out of habit not to offend you) and yet the manner in which the woman was accosted for “breaking our house rules” (which by the way are not posted) and “we ARE a coffee shop” was reminiscent of the teacher you hated in elementary school.
Then to have to endure ridicule for a simple request from the kitchen and be told, “those are as cooked as we have ever done them”…was a bit of a bridge too far and the owner, to her credit, promptly realized her error and provided an alternative but her actions were simply too late to undo the damage her toxic tone and caustic demeanor had already inflicted.
I left with only leaving a 15% gratuity and only that in hopes that the young women working there get to split the tips and ultimately get to break out of that place, and like my friends and I today,...
Read moreFour of us stopped in for coffee and ice cream Sunday night at 4:40. Posted hours said they closed at 5. We ordered three black coffees and four dishes of ice cream. Got everything about ten til 5, and sat down to eat it. Not three minutes later, the girl who took our order snippily says “we’re closing pretty soon, can you hurry and finish?” And throws out her arms impatiently. We all just kind of looked at her and said “Yep, just finishing up”. We continue to eat and drink. At 5 PM on the dot- we’re all nearly done at this point- she loudly announces “we’re closed now”. By now, we all just were blown away by how terribly rude she was being and just kind of nodded, said ok and continued to finish up.
Bear in mind, she could have easily turned the open sign off, told anyone who walked in that they were closed for service, and just continued with her end of shift duties without disturbing us in the slightest OR inconveniencing her. We left at 5:05. While the ice cream and coffee was easily good enough to warrant a return visit, and we love small town coffee shops to death, none of us will ever set foot in this...
Read moreAs a first-time customer, i was disappointed and would not go out of my way to be back. Firstly we put in our order. About ten minutes later, the lady from the back comes out with a ticket and starts chewing the younger girls out who were behind the bar. She said she put all the breakfast stuff away. Somehow, there is a miscommunication, and she didn't see the ticket. Ok, that's fine it only took about 35 minutes total to get food with only 1 other table of people. There was no communication like sorry I didn't get your ticket back in time. Nothing was communicated. The food was okay. Asked for the ticket from the young lady and she gave the ticket without a TOTAL! You're telling me that in little towns, they don't charge tax for food at restaurants?!? I had to add up my own ticket and add TAX just to pay for my food..... Needless to say, the management needs to get their employees trained appropriately and be professional. That way, they don't...
