If I could rate it zero stars I would. My husband and I ordered the Indian lunch. Tikka masala, butter chicken and rice with naan. I pointed to what I thought was butter chicken and was told it was Tikka masala, and shown the butter chicken. I commented "but it's yellow, butter chicken isn't yellow" the worker very rudely tried tell me butter chicken is always yellow. I laughed and hesitantly said ooook. Well. It was how I expected. ZERO taste. Same goes for the masala. It had taste, but not a Tikka masala taste that's for sure. The owner wasn't working that day and I'm convinced they made it wrong. The naan was so salty and so much butter, BUTTER! I couldn't finish the small piece. But just the condescending attitude I was given was ridiculous. I am from Canada. I have eaten in many, many Indian restaurants and have never seen yellow butter chicken lolol. 0/10 do not recommend their flavourless food.
Edit: in response to the reply. Butter chicken is a tomato based sauce. It is naturally reddish orange. Tikka masala is also tomato based and yours was the reddish it's supposed to be (although it was still missing the flavour). I've made butter chicken from scratch with no food colouring and it's always been the colour it's supposed to be. So if you're saying it was yellow because its "home cooking" and not a huge mistake in cooking, why was the other tomato...
Read moreI'm in Ashland visiting family, but I live in London.
I'm used to having a ton of options for Indian food - Brick Lane in East London has a plethora of options and even where I live in London I still have half a dozen options within a mile or so.
Kings Diner is as good as (perhaps even better than) any of them. I got Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala and the Tandoori Pork. They came with rice, soy balls and half a naan bread.
We got taken out and decided to mix and match the meals at home (but I was given the option to try a couple of the mains in one order if I wanted - service was lovely and friendly). My photo is a terrible representation of the food...but it was so good. The flavours were so good. The meat was tender and so nicely seasoned. The spice was fairly mild but so flavoursome.
(Edit: Oh. The price. What a bargain!)
I am only here for a couple weeks. Don't be surprised if we come back.

Surprised to find the diner inside a gas station. Perfect spot for my husband (he likes traditional American food while I enjoy Indian food. His asked if they could make him a grilled ham and cheese and I enjoyed a plate from the Indian Buffet, spiced so well without being too hot.Food was great and staff/service friendly and attentive. Very affordable, seemed like a local favorite for lunch. The homemade carrot cake was delicious. We will...
