Lovely little restaurant. Not many places to eat so this was a great find. The food was better than many mexican food restaurants in socal.
We ordered carne asada tacos and burritos, chicken taco salad, fish tacos, horchata, root beer, and water. All the food was really good. I did not try the fish tacos though (son's food); he expected the fish to be fried. It was cooked and covered in a red sauce. The carne asada was great - well seasoned and not chewy or fatty. The chips and salsa were fresh! The horchata was great too - not too sweet or grainy.
The two gentleman were very kind - they appeared to not have a heavy workload, but we went out of season. The gentleman who took our order appeared to be the chef. Which was helpful since I cannot have dairy and everything can back perfect! Both men were competent and quick!
The restaurant had a large parking lot to the side of it as well as some street parking.
All in all I hope to return soon.
Thanks for having this little...
Read moreWent in for a meal and got food poisoning. The cramps and pain were severe enough that I was hospitalized. It has been two weeks since the poisoning and I'm still confined to my bed suffering from the effects of fecal poisoning. Fortunately, I still had a portion of the meal in my refridgerator that I hadn't consumed and was able to have it analyzed at a certified food testing facility. The results came back positive for human fecal matter in the provided food sample. As a result of this contamination I've been suffering constant cramps and vomiting for over 10 days. I've lost 20 pounds of body weight which is difficult for a person who weighs only 160 pounds at 5 feet 10 inches. The meal cost me less than $15 dollars, however, the total price of my recovery will exceed $1000 for my loss of employment, hospitalization, and having the meal analyzed. In conclusion if you're looking for an experience you'll NEVER forget, but wish you could, then I recommend this...
Read morePlaza Jalisco Mexican Restaurant was a delightful place for us to enjoy our dinner. My husband and I visited there 5 years ago on the occasion of our 40th wedding anniversary when we vacationed in Astoria. We found ourselves back in the neighborhood again, so we returned for another lovely meal. They did not disappoint us. The special for the night was Camerones con Mojo de Ajo, my husband's favorite! It was sumptuous, with big, juicy shrimp and plump mushrooms in a delicious, garlicy butter sauce. I chose Sopitas with shredded beef, no dairy. They were perfect, with a large helping of tasty guacamole on each sope, and served with fluffy mexican rice and delicious beans. Our son had a combination of three items, Chile Verde, Chile Colorado and a Chile Relleño. Each seemed more delicious than the last! We were all very pleased with our choices, and with the excellent service as well. The prices were quite reasonable, and we had a very enjoyable...
