My two-day experience at this hotel was pretty disappointing, but I’m just being real here.
I had this awesome plan to go to the coast this summer and have a blast. Unfortunately, all the best hotels were fully booked, so I decided to take a risk and pick this one. I checked out their website and thought, wow, is this really a MOTEL? I was really impressed and figured they must have done some renovations because it looked fantastic. I was convinced and went ahead with the booking.
Turns out, I couldn’t have been more mistaken.
The room rate was pretty high, even for a nice hotel in a big city like Seattle, Portland, or Denver. It wasn't quite as pricey as hotels in Las Vegas, but I thought to myself, I work hard and deserve a summer getaway, so I was determined to make the best of it. However, when I walked into the room, I was shocked to find it looked more like a rundown motel than a nice hotel. The smell hit me right away, it was awful! I can't even describe it perfectly, but it was a mix of cigarette smoke, body odor, something rotten, and a hint of gasoline. It was so bad that I felt like I needed to escape. I quickly pulled out my phone to find a better hotel, ready to pay an extra $50 a night, but everything was booked for the weekend. I even considered sleeping in my car because the smell was unbearable. It really ruined my idea of a fun getaway. The furniture was old, the TV was ancient, and the lounge chair looked sketchy. I even checked the bed for bed bugs, flipping the mattress and pulling off the sheets, but thankfully, there were none. The bathroom and shower were decent, I’ll give them that. Still, the pictures online were totally misleading.
Positive aspects: The staff were friendly and professional
If Motel 6 is the benchmark for motels, then this place is definitely lacking and really needs to step up its game. I should have known better than to trust the pictures; a motel is just a motel, no matter what. I had too much hope for this little coastal town, and I regret it. I want to share my experience so that others can avoid the same mistake I made. DO NOT STAY HERE; look for...
Read moreIf I could give it zero stars I would. My partner and I booked this motel a week in advance and was informed the room would be prepared before 4pm for check-in. Upon arrival on the day of check-in, the room was not only not unprepared but the hotel manager (if that is the title of the gentleman at the front desk who routinely mentioned having been up 24 hours straight attempting to prepare rooms) said that the room should be ready for us within half an hour and provided us our room key, requesting us to come back and it will be ready. We left to walk the area and returned an hour and a half later to a room that had not even been touched by a cleaning team, and after finding the cleaner for the room taking a smoke break just outside an open door for the room she was cleaning that also featured her son sleeping fully clothed with shoes on the bed of the room, we returned to the office with a line of 6 other groups waiting to be checked in facing similar excuses from the manager of the office (again, if that is who the gentleman actually was). We had driven three hours and spent the day on the town, with groceries in the car that two hours were already unnecessary waiting with them in a warm car, and asked to be refunded as neither the services purchased were provided nor any adequate form of re-compensation offered. The gentleman processed a return and provided us an itemized receipt showing a return being processed, and yet... the very next day, ANOTHER CHARGE, NOT a return, showed in my partners account. Suffice it to say not having a room prepared and no form of notification for the delay nor an accurate method of providing a time estimate for it being prepared is already not acceptable, but to then double charge a card after providing a receipt for return is just borderline criminal. (nearly $1,000 in charges rather than being properly returned the money for the original transaction). We are processing a fraud claim with her bank, and would strongly advice that nobody stays at this institution while they operate under the same supervision and...
Read moreI checked in after 10 pm, was passing through Oregon on business. When I got into my room there was a mess in the bathroom, lint and hair on the toilet seat. So I had to go to Safeway to get my own bleach wipes to clean it; due to a sign on the desk (under the glass) that read “due to covid, no maid service.” It was disgusting. Then, I went to crawl into bed and noticed a few short dark colored men’s hairs on the pillow cases, and dark colored DRIED rice grains inside the sheets. It was evident this room had not been cleaned in weeks. I left quickly the next morning due to needing to keep a meeting, and simply dropped my key card off at the desk. I called the front desk on my very next day off that week to report my experience, and the customer service was horrendous. I spoke with Desiree, and she kept interrupting me and speaking condescendingly to me- calling me “honey.” I asked her not to call me that, as it’s offensive. She proceeded to argue with me, telling me it isn’t offensive and that there is nothing she would do to assist me. So now, I’ve had no sleep, no clean place to be, and been disrespected by the staff on the premesis. Who told me I should have called. Well, I would have if the sign in the room didn’t tell me there was no maid service! And the front desk told me there would be no one there after ten pm, when I called on my way into town. Very POOR experience. Will not be back. Oh, and Desiree is refusing a refund: after insulting me and arguing with me over the phone. I asked her to forward this concern into the owners or manager as it was massive oversight to not clean the room prior to a check in that booked in advance. Desiree laughed it off, and I do not have faith she will pass any bit of this along, as her employer will certainly hear from me, how badly she treated me. To the owner: is this how you want your guests treated? With hostility and disrespect regarding a health concern? And yes, a clean room is a...
