The World Famous — Restaurant in Athens-Clarke County Unified Government

I don't like writing negative reviews, however, this is one of those instances that warrants it in hopes that changes will be made to better the dining experience. We drove an hour and a half on our day off to experience Athens. Based on the reviews, this place seemed to be a good fit to eat lunch. We walked in just after they opened and waited for someone to greet and seat us. And we waited...and we waited. Finally, I stopped the female behind the bar, who was more intent on getting things up and running than talking to me, and asked if we should seat ourselves. She stated yes, and we sat down. Once again, we waited, and waited, and no service. I went back to the bar and tried to strike up a conversation with the same person to see if we were going to have our lunch order taken. She seemed bothered that I was interrupting her progress and advised that there was bar service only. No big deal, but that would have been nice to know up front before we sat down. So we placed our order and waited for our food. When it arrived, it looked tasty enough. However, looks can be deceiving. Nothing to write home about. Basic food comparable to fast food quality. EDIT 2024: Prices are completely gouged, unaffordable to college students who are supporting themselves. A shame that you’d need to spend a significant portion of your daily part time wage to afford dinner here. 4/5 - 3/5 place was still busy and looked to be doing well, I will miss getting a great affordable meal here like I did when I was in school.

I have officially ordered every single item on the menu so I finally feel as though I can review the restaurant now.

Food I loved: Veggie Burger(NO LONGER OFFERED), Regular Burger, Wings(6 for $13? Insane, not worth the cost maybe try $10…), and Pork Steamed Buns(Now $18, for shame… Not worth the cost)

Such good food, waitstaff are nice and the owner is a cool guy. The nice atmosphere inside and the always full porch give this place the life it deserves. This is all of my friends first pick choice for food and always the fall back choice whenever somewhere else...

I shouldn't write a review when I'm angry. Just a reminder to myself never to go here again. While it's a popular local hangout, and apparently the fries are world famous- although they're always dry and poorly seasoned and burned around the edges whenever I've ordered them that I've ordered extra sauce to make them palatable, their online menu is outdated and incorrect- so DON'T use it as reference to make a decision- I made this mistake, and it cost me a door cover and ultimately no food, the bands were intolerably loud for such a small space so take earplugs if you go. I have unfailingly left my drink unfinished, because the cocktails are, well, often unpalatable. It's consistently been a lackluster experience. But again, a popular local...
