everything, literally everything, about our experience at mama bertha’s was insanely delicious. we had heard about how good it was and were skeptical because we haven’t really loved any mexican restaurants recently. every single bite i took was flavored expertly, everything was fresh, hot, so good!!
two things that made us extra happy with was the attention to the seasoning on food. i feel like i haven’t had perfectly seasoned mexican food in so long. i usually have to salt a ton and salting and seasoning food after it’s served just isn’t that great.
also the guacamole!! it was FRESHLY made. every single restaurant that serves guacamole these days has a weird guacamole.. it’s not fresh, it’s hard to explain, it’s just not good to me. this guacamole was 10/10!! salsa was also refreshing and seasoned well.
my family enjoyed the quesabirria, nachos supreme, pollo loco, molcajete (with steak and chicken) and churros… when trying new restaurants we love to get a bit of everything and share… everything was so good and i truly recommend all of those dishes. we will be back again and again! i never review on google, but this place deserves a...
Read moreSaw the reviews and had to give this place a shot. Frankly, I don't know what the people of Athens are smoking. Cheese and bean nachos were good corn chips with a can of brown refried beans dumped on top, with a pool of hot, white, salty water underneath. Fish tacos had about a bite of fish in each, the tortillas were wet, came with barely any pico de gallo, and there was another sauce that tasted like some kind of duck sauce which didn't seem to go with anything. Chicken quesadilla was alright but more like a lazy taco with chicken and cheese in it. All of the food was like something I could put together for $5 in about ten minutes. The best part, sincerely, was the very friendly waitress. Unfortunately, it was hard to hear her over the music, which was blaring on the television - mostly by an artist known as "Chayanne" which is some kind of easy-listening pop amalgamation that really doesn't belong in the dining area of a Mexican restaurant. It clashed with the more traditional Mexican music we could hear in the back, which would have been great if it wasn't overshadowed by the weird stuff that echoed off...
Read moreWe had the wonderful pleasure of dining at Mama Bertha’s tonight. We enjoyed the Quesabirria and the Pollo Loco with mixed chicken and steak. Everything we ate was delicious! The house-made tomatillo sauce that came with the quesabirria was especially delicious and very flavorful. The portions were very nice-sized, and the prices were reasonable. Our waitress Jennifer truly enhanced our great experience with her excellent service. Jennifer greeted us promptly with complimentary chips and salsa, offered excellent recommendations from the menu, and was incredibly efficient with making sure we always had everything we needed. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner who checked on us, as well. It is very evident that the owner and staff take a lot of pride in taking care of their guests. I can’t wait to come...
