I’m not really sure what I expected when I found MexiWing II on google, however, i must have had some expectations because this place was full of surprises.
We pulled in, and were unsure if we were going to a motor lodge or a Mexican restaurant. We decided 852 google users couldn’t be wrong and went ahead and got a table.
First of all, the salsa was canned tomato sauce with green flakes in it. We tried doctoring it up with the condiments available, but there was no hope for it. Instead we ordered the bean dip and chunky guacamole. The bean dip arrived quickly, however it was refried beans in a bowl covered in queso dip. My partner eats plant based and couldn’t enjoy it. We were never able to resolve it because the waitress was a very busy woman, never stopping to ask us if we needed anything. The chunky gauc turned out to be guac ingredients, just not mashed. We went ahead and took care of that ourselves.
I got the quesadilla fajita with shrimp. It was good. My partner ordered a plain bean burrito with lettuce. His lettuce didn’t arrive for quite some time so I shared mine. Eventually she showed up with it and we waved it off. It did make an appearance on the bill which we had to get removed.
Sadly, the sequels almost always disappoint but this wont deter me from trying the original if I...
Read moreWhilst traversing the modest streets of Athens, I happened upon an establishment of peculiar allure, known as 'Mexi-Wing II.' I confess, I was rather perplexed at first—was this a purveyor of Mexican fare or of Buffalo fowl, hailing from some region as foreign to me as the wild west? Yet, curiosity prevailed, and I took my seat, eager to solve this culinary enigma.
Upon the arrival of my meal, I felt as if I were swept back in time, transported not to a mere eatery but to an ancient cocina deep in the heart of Mexico. In my mind’s eye, I beheld Señora Consuela, an elderly yet spirited matron of Mexican heritage, tending her hearth and laboring over plump, fragrant wings with the wisdom of a bygone era. Each wing, though tinged with the fiery spirit of Buffalo, bore a depth of flavor that spoke of the old country’s rich tradition—smoky, robust, and seasoned with a mastery that transcended time.
Mexi-Wing II may bewilder at first glance, but its charm lies precisely in this blend of the unexpected. It brings together flavors and dreams, offering fare fit for the boldest conquistador or humble soul alike. Five stars to this wondrous establishment, a doorway to Mexico—and a dash of Buffalo spice—for any soul adventurous enough to...
Read moreWe decided to visit this place because we had never been here before, but our waitress, Teresa, was rude and unwelcoming. When I told her we hadn't been here before she got very curt and left in a huff. Once she returned we ordered 2 margaritas and needed a few minutes before we were ready to order food. Again she was very curt, left in a huff, and returned to take our order while muttering to herself. She did in passing ask if I wanted another margarita after she brought our food and I declined with a request for a water. After she brought our water and receipt that was it. She would not acknowledge us at all for anything, we planned on ordering desert, but since she just seemed to make a point to flat out ignore us we decided to leave. I always tip my server, but when you are an a-hole to me I don't. I gave up on trying to gain her attention and had to walk to the waitress station and get my own to go box. Again she walked by and made no acknowledgement, another waitress did, but by that point I just wanted to leave. Honestly the margaritas and food was pretty good all things considered, but the behavior of our waitress left a very sour taste...
