This establishment is off in the hood. The best soul food I have had since being here in Georgia. I moved here in 1997. I wish I had known about them earlier. No knock against the others, but Busy Bee Cafe is everything!
The portion size, as you can see, is enough for two. So, I ate this again the next day. Lawd have mercy! The food was better the next day! The food is cooked and seasoned to perfection. I got collard, turnips, fried okra, carrot souffle, and banana pudding.
Now, l wasn't too sure about the banana pudding 🤔. Everybody that sells it shouldn't. So I inquired about it. The server gave a humble biased answer, "it's good." Mmh in my head...ion know. There was a man sitting on the bench waiting on his order chimed in, "awe nah that banana pudding it's good nah, if you don't like it, I'll pay for it myself." So I'm thinking in my head...he is a regular, if I dont like it, the man who offered to pay ain't gon pay for it, because he is gonna be gone so I'll have to taste it before I leave🤔 and I ordered it.
I couldn't rank the atmosphere honestly because I didn't go in. I scanned the QR code and placed n paid for my order outside. It was a little chilly outside, so I went back to my car to wait for my food. The lady who took my order was very sweet and kind. She didn't mind doing the act of service - offered and brought my order to the car. A 10 plus.
This place was super busy, clean, and clearly a staple in the community. A perfect location! Right on the strip. The key to cutting your wait time down is to place your order ahead, and if you are 20 minutes away, you can then pick up your order and go. Check them out and you will not be disappointed. Now don't be in a hurry, go for the food. It is off the chain! Oh, and I tasted the banana pudding before I left. Peace be...
Read moreI saw the AJC listed it as one of the top restaurant fro Fried Chicken in ATLanta, so I had to go check it out. I saw reviews that you can expect to wait, longer than your quoted time. I found the website and was able to make an online reservation, which I recommend, so you reduce your wait time. You get a message every time you move up a spot in the line. Parking was tight but I was able to find a spot. There was a line for takeout out the door. I decided to wait in that line while waiting for my name to be called and would just go with whichever was faster. The stop seating at 7PM, and my spot in the take out line was almost to the door but I asked the host if they had room for a single and he got me a stool at the counter. I ordered the half fried chicken which mac&cheese and cole slaw. They were out of slaw, so I went with mashed potatoes. The server returned a few minutes later and said they were out of potatoes so I went with a double serving of mac&cheese. I decided to skip soda and went with Lemonade, which is hand squeezed daily. It was good and I finished my glass pretty quickly and asked for another. My server informed me it was not a free refill. I checked the menu, and it is clearly written that it is $3 a glass and NO REFILLS, so they warn you, if you take the time to read the menu. My meal was served and they must have been out of legs because my dark quarter consisted of two thighs. The chicken was moist and juicy and fried to a golden brown, and well seasoned, but not spicy. I enjoyed it very much and the mac&cheese too. It was too much for me to eat all at once, so got a box and took half my plate home. It was a bit pricey ($16 for a half chicken), but I enjoyed the meal. I would recommend this place and return to try some of their other Southern...
Read moreMy first time visiting and I must say I wasn’t impressed. I prefer Mary Mac better. 🤷🏽♀️
I’m glad I ordered to go and didn’t expect to sit inside because the inside wasn’t an option. It’s carry out ONLY. I had a reservation at another restaurant 4 minutes away for my dinner but was craving comfort food too. Smh
I really had a taste for cornbread dressing and I didn’t feel like cooking so since I was going to be in the area anyway, I placed an order. First time visiting and last.
When I arrived there was no structure. A lot of people were standing outside so I thought it was a wait but since I placed my order online and paid I walked right up. To my surprise, the inside was closed and I had to wait like everybody else. With no instructions, I asked another customer the procedures and he was nice enough to assist. I later went to advise the lady I place an online order and her attitude and response… her attitude and response…. Let’s just say if I hadn’t already paid, I would have left. Her customer service was horrible and they have to do better.
There’s a sign on the door that say the inside is closed.. driving from McDonough I would have been very upset to see that if I had not had a reservation elsewhere. When I got home and tasted the food just to sample it before I had it for lunch the next day, I realized never again. The cornbread dressing was salty, the greens and potato salad were the best. The Mac and cheese wasn’t bad but a pinch more of salt/seasoning and it would have been over seasoned. Again, I went for the dressing and was disappointed. I did like the concept of the keeping you updated through the online ordering site. That was a plus.
I doubt I’ll be back, but give them a try and hopefully you have a better experience. I went on...
