Food: Ordered two full racks of ribs, a bag of chips, beans, cole slaw, and Brunswick stew. Firstly the ribs were good and we could have simply had the end of day "older" ribs. I bet they probably make them or smoke them in the morning. I do not think they were much different than something I could get at Chilli's or something. I personally like the ribs at Chilli's more, they have more meat and the chiptole sauce is good. I much prefer the ribs at Buckhorn Grill, I think that place is great (although not in ATL).
The bag of chips was a waste of time, I was expecting fries or homemade chips; nope, just a bag of lays (a small one at that). I personally am not a fan of regular lays chips or the bread that is offered at Texas style bbq places. This place had both.
The beans were good and did have a hint of the rum, the Brunswick stew was not that great. The other members of my party enjoyed the slaw, I am not a fan of slaw so I will not be commenting on that. They did tell me that they did not like it too much however.
Ambience: I did not like how dark this restaurant was. I went here at around 8-9pm and could barley see the food in front of me. I am a very clean person, I do not like how I could not see if things were dirty. The main issue is I couldn't tell if there were chips in the table or that was bbq sauce. I do not like the lighting, I would come for lunch if I came back.
There was also a stage, not my cup of tea, but nobody was performing. Nobody was in the restaurant except for us, it was a Saturday night about an hour before closing. I not sure if this place is normally busy around this time.
Service: If this place was given a review purely on service it would be a 5/5 star. I was definitely given southern hospitality, the issue was not the service. The issue was with the food. From going inside and eating our meal the gentleman working this place looked out for our family. We had a baby with us and he made sure we had room for our stroller and helped us.
Bathroom: The main issue with the bath is that it smelled of urine. Despite the individual that was walking around cleaning and making sure the guests were taken care of, the bathroom did not smell the best. It didn't look dirty but it also wasn't the easiest for me to have my eyes adjust from a dark room to lit one inside this bathroom. They are imo too close to the tables as well inside the restaurant.
Conclusion: Great service, food was mediocre, sides were not the best. I would not come back just because I want to go to places that have better food. I was on vacation, I would not recommend this place and would keep looking for a great BBQ place in Atlanta next time...
Read moreSo here's what I ordered a platter of ribs, a pulled pork sandwich, a side of Mac n cheese, collard greens and rum baked beans.
Let me preference this by stating one's own individual taste is just that.
The most disappointing item for me was the beans. Part of the disappointment was my expectation of what I thought it would be. When I saw rum baked beans I thought bbq beans smothered in this deep brown sweet sauce . Instead the sauce was a reddish orange it reminded me of the liquid inside of a can of pork n beans. Once I saw the beans I believe my pallet immediately decided they weren't going to be good. I will admit that the beans were the most flavorful of all of the items I ordered unfortunately they weren't what I thought or wanted them to be.
Next the mac n cheese maybe one of the most decisive foods there are. The Mac n cheese was wet and grainy as if it was made with a cheese sauce. I know there are plenty of people that like wet Mac n cheese. I am not of those people. I like my Mac n cheese to be gooey the cheese completely bonded to the noodle this wasn't that.
Let's talk about the greens. The greens were the star of the show. I suppose I'm more open minded when it comes to collard greens. I like them with a hint of vinegar, or a hint of sweetness or spicy. While the greens were missing two of the 3 flavor profiles I really enjoyed them.
Now for the ribs. They weren't flavorful, the sauce was full of flavor but the ribs were very bland. Now they were very tender falling apart with each pull. I can see how people enjoy the ribs I just had ribs from other places that were better.
I have no opinion on the taste of the pulled pork sandwich as I ordered it for my son. I didn't love that the pulled pork reminded me of a sloppy joe.
In closing I would not order the pulled pork sandwich, man n cheese or rum baked beans for a...
Read moreHello Management/All,
We ordered a to-go whole rib slab w/ 2 small sides Mac cheese & Greens on Saturday July 5th between 10:15-10:30pm in person. We always come here the food is delicious! However, we had ordered a full slab of Ribs $29.99. By the time we got home we noticed this was a half slab $14.25 and your place of service was closed at 11pm.
I wasn’t going to not eat my food I just ordered and wait until the next day to bring back because the order was incorrect. It should have been correct the first time when we ordered in person.
Yes, we checked the bag to make sure everything was in there but we didn’t open the paper that the Rib slab was in because we would’ve thought the guys in the back would put the order in correctly (meaning not us checking behind them) so we left to go home it’s about a 30 min ride back home from your business.
We paid $41 all together w/Mac and cheese and Greens $3.90 as our sides in the small container. We still have the receipt 🧾 . It was very disappointing and we were starving.
Next time I guess we will open paper infront of you of the slab it was placed in to verify what we ordered (an order y’all took down in person. Paying $41 for a half slab of ribs is wild. It definitely wasn’t a whole slab.
Moving forward, please have your guys double check the order in the back to make sure they prepare the order correctly from your customers.
I do remember there were about 5 guys all in the back laughing/ joking around asking if someone wanted a Gatorade. I know it was close to closing time and people were coming in and out as your place of business was about to close.
But please double check the orders before you hand them to your customers. This was extremely...
