Harry and Sons went from being my favorite sushi and Thai establishment in Atlanta to a place where I left extremely upset and visibly shaken. I have never been treated so horribly at a restaurant in all my life. To make a long story short, my order was incorrectly made as a result of a miscommunication. No big deal just remake it right? Wrong. At Harry and Sons they defensively argue down the customer and make you feel as though it is all your fault until you are on the verge of tears (seriously). Even the manager was very apathetic after explaining I was upset with the way I had been treated. Angrily the bartender eventually agreed to "remake" the order after making sure to note that because I had added cream cheese they could not resell my order. After receiving the "remake" he then made sure to note that he would have to pay for the mistake out of his pocket. Even after being treated so harshly I apologized and said that I had not wanted this to be a big deal but his handling of the situation had made me very upset and tipped him $5 on the take out order anyway. Once I got home to eat my food I realized that my order was not remade. They had simply pushed out the cucumber and pushed out the avocado with it, and there was still cucumber left in a few of the pieces. The sushi was very loose and sloppy and would not stay together while eating because of this. Next, I realized the cream cheese I had paid extra to be added had not been added either. So all in all, I got a super messed up order in which only one of five rolls were correct, a super stressful evening that one would not expect to get from simply picking up a to go order, and a bill that reflected both added cucumber and cream cheese to each of the rolls when I in fact got neither. So...
Read moreThis might be my new favorite spot in Atlanta. Frances, the main bartender is quite the character! He handled a packed bar and tables no problem and had plenty of time to joke around. We told him we always have a hard time getting restaurants to actually take us seriously when we say "make it so spicy it hurts!" It never did. Well Frances had us covered. He pulled out a freezer bag full of dried chili peppers and he said, you sure you want it that hot? Of course it was super hot on our Thai basil tofu but it was such a good burn! Very hot but didn't make you reach for water after every bite, just super flavorful. We got a spicy tuna roll as well that was terrific, and we got some salmon sashimi. Perfect texture and amazingly fresh with just a little bit of that "ocean" taste. I got eel nigri as well. Frances got to know us, and said you should come by next week, I'm sorry ordering uni! (Sea urchin) we came in next week, got the same order (which was just as amazing the second time) and he put out 2 small plates with the sea urchin sashimi in a garlic brown sauce. The taste was incredible! Not too fishy, exploding with a flavor I can't even really describe, kinda like a smoked salmon taste. The texture was interesting, it was kind of like flan, I had to disregard that part because the taste was so good! We now come here probably once a week or more now. Also it's very reasonably priced! Very highly...
Read moreI came in alone and sat at the bar, where I was initially greeted by an employee. Shortly afterward, I was handed menus in a noticeably aggressive manner, which I chose to overlook. I asked a simple question about deep-fried sushi, and the bartender appeared visibly irritated, though I was unsure why. He then served me a glass of water, placing it on the table with unnecessary force again, I ignored it.
When it came time to pay, he handed me the payment device with $5 already added to my total. I corrected the amount and selected $0 for the tip, as I did not feel the service warranted one. As I got up to leave, he called out, “Aren’t you forgetting something?” When I asked what he meant, he replied, “You need to pay for your service.” I calmly informed him that I had just paid. He then loudly exclaimed, “No tip!? I don’t work for free GIVE ME A TIP!” His yelling was uncalled for and extremely unprofessional.
He continued with more disrespectful and inappropriate remarks before finally telling me to “get out.” I was stunned and deeply uncomfortable throughout this encounter.
This kind of behavior is unacceptable, especially from someone representing your establishment behind the bar. I hope you take this matter seriously and address it...
