TLDR: Excellent food, great ambiance, not impressed by service.
Quality of Food: Amazing! My compliments to the chef. We had a party of nine without a single complaint. I personally ordered the Braised Short Ribs which were melt in your mouth phenomenal. Bread was really good quality, however, noticeable that it was probably from earlier that morning. I heard compliments from the table on the calamari and filet mignon also.
Quality of Service: I am truly disappointed with the service we received during our visit. While our drinks were refilled regularly and the food was distributed accurately, the overall attention to detail regarding food allergies was severely lacking. From the beginning, we made it clear that there were severe gluten and dairy allergies at our table, and our server initially seemed attentive. However, when the steamed asparagus arrived, we were casually informed after the fact that it contained breadcrumbs—a clear oversight. Later, our server suggested we order the lava cakes early since they take over 20 minutes to prepare. Unfortunately, we had already finished our meals and were waiting for the check long before anyone came to take our dessert order. To make matters worse, the individual with the severe gluten allergy was recommended the lava cake, which is not safe for them to consume. The coffee orders were also mishandled. One guest who requested coffee with no cream received cream; another who asked for no cream or sugar was given both, while I, who ordered both cream and sugar, received neither (easily fixed by passing the items to the correct person who ordered but a lack of attention on the server’s part). Lastly, we were celebrating an anniversary, and while the thought of providing a special dessert was appreciated, the execution fell flat. The individual with the gluten allergy was given a mousse cake with a cookie crust. To add to the confusion, the server offhandedly mentioned there were nuts in the cake. While the intention to make the experience enjoyable was clear, the repeated missteps regarding allergies and attention to detail were incredibly frustrating and, quite honestly, unacceptable. I do not wish to get anyone in trouble so I have purposefully waited to make this review and used gender-neutral references as I know everyone has their off-days and certainly hope this was an off-day for this server.
Environment & Ambiance: The restaurant is very nice and provides a cozy scene. We were seated towards the back facing the casino, so our view was not waterfront, but I can imagine that would have been nice if we had made a reservation in advance.
Pricing and Concerns: You are paying for a 5-star restaurant, averaging $$$ for a party of two. No other concerns to note.
Comment and Recommendation: Would I recommend this establishment? The food alone is worth the recommendation, however, I also feel as though the same quality of food can be found at a different top-tier resturaunt with potentially...
Read moreWhenever I travel to the Golden Nugget Casino, Chart House immediately comes to my mind as a place to eat in Atlantic City. Located on 644 Huron Avenue, Chart House is part of the Landry’s Select Club. Mostly known for their seafood (named Best Casino Seafood Restaurant by the Boardwalk Journal), there is a lot to love beyond the actual meal.
The views are fantastic. During happy hour, it is possible to see the sunset. It is truly a magical and romantic experience. While having the right blend of foods, you can calmly enjoy the water flowing and witness the sun setting on the East Coast.
Opening their happy hour on Wednesday – Friday & Sunday from 4-7PM, Chart House is definitely a place I love to visit for the food (I do not drink alcohol). All reasonably priced, the variety in taste and texture is quite vast. If I want to carb out, I love to indulge in theirMediterranean Hummus Tasting plate. Included are avocado, roasted red pepper, Kalamata, grilled pita, and plantain chips. This huge plate is only $5.
If I am looking into shedding some weight, then I choose the Lettuce Wraps. They are only $6 and include 4 hefty pieces of deliciousness. It is a wok-seared Chicken, Thai peanut sauce, cucumbers, carrots, mushrooms, and sweet soy glaze, on top of a bed of lettuce.
My personal favorite dish to eat at the Chart House isShrimp Tacos. It includes a lightly fried shrimp, warm tortilla, cabbage, Jack cheese, Pico de Gallo, and Kim Chee (minus the Kim Chee). Depending on my mood, I will eat the taco with the tortilla. Otherwise, I enjoy the inside part of the food.
Most importantly, eating incredible food must be done only with the right staff around. The personality and vibe of a place of any kind depends on the people that work there. I am always at ease at the Chart House inside the Golden Nugget Casino. Everyone involved seem to be human and humane. No one is forced to be kind. The fact that every experience has been a wonderful one is a testament to the right ensemble of...
Read moreI usually don't leave bad reviews, and I love a good seafood restaurant. However, I paid for the view. The hostess was super sweet and that's about where the good service ended. Our server (who resembled a karen) was very inattentive and unable to provide a good experience. As an avid wine drinker, I love to sample a wine before I order a glass or bottle, especially a bottle of wine thats over $100. Restaurant was less than happy to do so. I asked the server to taste one that had a glass option instead, and she came back with a complete glass rather than a sample, so I decided against wine. Appetizer was delicious as well as the beginning bread. The most delicious plate was the swordfish. The shrimp and lobster pasta left much to be desired. We ordered a kids Mac and cheese, which were very plain and unflavored. I ordered a steak and a lobster addition. Somehow I ended up with two lobster tails instead of one. The steak was cooked well, but lobster was dry and unflavorful. Makes no sense for a $57 steak addition to lack flavor and cooking technique. The "made to order" lava cake. The way it was phrased made it seem like it would be a big deal or at least enough for 5 people to share. Reality was it was a regular lava cake that you could get at the Rain Forest Cafe down the boardwalk (that one is way bigger). Since the mac and cheese had little flavor, we asked the waitress for them to add grated cheese as they did to the pasta dishes, and she acted like we were asking her to fish for the lobster I was eating. If we had a better attendant, the experience may have better, but still not enough for the cost of food. I recommend trying Morton's in Virginia for an exemplary service and food experience. In summation, pricing was inaccurate to the dishes, and food was subpar. Service was also lacking as well (the lady serving us water and picking up plates was lovely and attentive). I would not recommend and will definitely not...
