Where do I even start?!?! My husband and I drove over an hour to try Hectors Kitchen for the first time. It's Veterans Day and we are both Veterans. This place did NOT disappoint! We started with chips and salsa and the empanada. I then saw they had jalapeño cheesesticks and got back up to order those. The salsa was chunky and I hate chunky salsa. It looked like it would be bland. Boy was I wrong! I absolutely LOVED it! Full of flavor! The beef empanada came with sauce (as did our other dishes), it was not needed! The empanadas were AH-MAZ-ING! SO glad I got back up to order the jalapeño cheesesticks! They were the best cheesesticks EVER! For our main dishes, I ordered the Carne asada and hubby got the Cuban sandwich. He said the Cuban was "okay", but to be fair, he doesn't care for that kind of food. My Carne Asada was the best ever! NOTHING about that dish was lacking flavor!!! NOTHING! The plantains were sweet and savory but not too sweet. The fried plantains had cilantro and other seasonings. My rice was so full of flavor and the black beans as well! The meat was tender and I just mixed everything together and ate it because I couldn't decide what to eat first lol There was so much food that I made 3 meals out of it! The girls at the front were SO friendly! The bathroom was very clean and so cute! They have outside dining, inside dining and a take-out window. The whole place was clean. Prices were very fair and I have not one single complaint. Thank you SO much for a perfect lunch on our special day!

Hector’s Kitchen is an unsuspecting little gem. Me and some buddies were in the Attalla area around lunch time and was looking for a lunch spot. We wanted something local, not just something we could get anywhere. Hector’s Kitchen was showing on Google Maps to be very close to where we were and was rated highly. We weren’t sure because none of us could remember if we’d ever tried Cuban food. We decided to give it a shot. There’s nothing fancy about the exterior or interior but we were greeted by a very friendly hostess who embodied the colorful decor found inside. We told her we’d never been there before so she recommended several dishes to try. The prices were a little higher than we anticipated but one of the recommendations was their Cuban sandwich which was on the lower range of priced dishes so we all three went for that option and all opted for queso with the chips that came with the sandwich over the salsa. The food came out pretty quickly and looked fantastic. Well, it tasted even better than it looked! Each component of the sandwich was perfect from the bread to the meat and was dressed just right with the other toppings. We all said we could have made a meal out of just the bread, it was great! The tortilla chips were hot and fresh and were a great vehicle to deliver the tasty queso! We were very pleased with the entire experience. If I ever find myself near this spot around meal time I will definitely be back! Thanks Hectors for a great lunch.

Hector's Kitchen in Attalla, Alabama, has become one of our absolute favorite go-to spots for authentic Colombian cuisine. Tucked away on hwy77, this restaurant offers not just incredible food but also a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere that makes every visit memorable. The menu is a true reflection of Colombia's rich culinary heritage. While everything we've tried has been outstanding, our absolute favorite dish has to be the *Colombian Special*. This dish features perfectly grilled chicken topped with a fried egg, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that's both satisfying and comforting. It's a must-try for first-time visitors and seasoned regulars alike. Beyond the food, Hector's Kitchen excels in its hospitality. The staff’s warmth and attentiveness ensure that you feel like more than just a customer—you feel like part of the family. The vibrant decor and lively music only add to the experience, transporting you straight to the heart of Colombia. If you're seeking a slice of Colombian culture and cuisine in Attalla, Hector's Kitchen should be at the top of your list. Whether you're stopping by for a hearty meal or simply looking to indulge in your favorite dishes, this place never disappoints.

Hector's is a great place to visit. The food is excellent and the staff is so incredibly friendly. We try to get something new each visit and we've never had anything that wasn't delicious. The Columbian Special is a great place to start. I'd never had Yucca fries before and those were my introduction. So good! Make sure you try to the chimi-mayo dip as a side to your yucca fries.

I love the loaded arepais from the starter menu as my meal. It's filling and then I can still get a cup of soup or another appetizer to share. On my last visit, we tried the Hot Honey Habenero Wings and OH MY GAHD. I dredged every bit of those wings in the sauce. They aren't too spicy to eat, but instead are perfectly sweet and savory. I'd never had anything quite like it and will definitely order them again.

As far as the desserts, my favorite is a creamy fruit dessert that they only have when it's in season. I've tried the bananas foster as well. Excellent, but you need a few friends to help you because it's a huge dish and the ice cream melts quickly.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it's a small restaurant with round tables so it's awkward to try to push together tables when you have a large party. But it's a great place for a large group because there are so many things onnthe menu to try! The tables outside are large so that is an option for...
