Tale of polar opposites and inconsistency.
Came on a Thursday toward closing for my first ever visit to the restaurant. Had a great experience. Good food good drinks. Friendly staff.
Was encouraged by that experience so I came again for Saturday night date night and was quite disappointed overall. Staff would come by and ask if we wanted anything, and would never return with the requested item (black pepper for example). Admittedly, they were having staff issues so waits for requested items I understand, but blatant disregard of those requests not as much.
When food finally arrived, it was really just not up to the standard I would expect for the prices on the menus. Meat was unseasoned and overcooked for both my and my wife’s steaks. Sides were unseasoned as well and seemed like something served at a banquet. Coincidentally there was a party going on at the same time tonight, which may explain why less attention was paid to the preparation of our food. Just a guess.
Expressed displeasure of the experience with management and they comped the entrees which I think was fair, but overall I wish they asked then and there what was wrong and what we didn’t enjoy and that they would express desire to improve upon what went wrong with the meal. I think it was just assumed we were displeased with the service.
This restaurant has a string of tremendous reviews so I really just don’t understand what happened tonight. I have a hard time wanting to go back when the meat was unseasoned and lacked flavor.
Maybe the party was the problem. If so I hope they don’t host parties if it is impacting the quality going out to the rest of their dining customers. ...
Read moreThe Inn has plenty of historic charm and our experience with dining was overall great. However, we mainly used the Inn as our lodging, so my review will focus on that. We stayed in room 12, which is on the top floor. First night, the central air conditioning did not work in our room, resulting in a hot night for our family. This was fixed, thankfully, for our second night. First of all, our room was dirty. This is not a situation that a vacuum can resolve. There is hardly any floor space, so a standard vacuum would have difficulty navigating the room. There were dead bugs in various corners of the room. Surfaces were dusty and looked like it hadn't been wiped or dusted prior to our visit. Furthermore, our room was lacking some very basic amenities: 1 coat hanger was supplied, no luggage rack to put our suitcase, an outlet on only one side of the bed and nowhere to plug in or charge peripherals on the other side, and window shades that cannot be pulled all the way down to prevent light from coming in. I did try to talk to the manager, Kim, regarding my concerns, but she appeared to be taking it personally, so I backed off. She did vacuum while we were at dinner, but like I mentioned, there's hardly any floor space in this room, so a vacuum isn't going to do much. Other than that, nothing else was done to rectify the situation. I have stayed in various hotels, from extremely basic motels to luxury resorts, and I would definitely say that this one missed the mark. If you look at my other reviews, too, I am not known for writing unfairly negative reviews (in fact, the majority of them are...
